A new cross-country (XC) track will be built in Heidelberg and launched at the Pumpkin festival. This track is fully endorsed by Hessequa Municipality, with support from local schools and Pedal Power Association.

 

The Pumpkin Festival will also launch a cycling program with the youth, including the donation of BMX bikes to the schools. Sponsorship from You will ensure that permanent signage is in place on the track, creating lasting brand recognition well beyond the event.

 

The following distances are planned:

• 80 km with 1800m climbing and amazing new single track
  
• 64 km with 1200m climbing and great scenery trails
  
• 64 km with 550 m climbing
  
• 35 km with 500 m climbing
  
• 6.5 km with 180 m for kids and families
  

The mountain bike race will be organized by Switchback (www.switchback.co.za).and Grootvadersbosch Conservancy staff. The race will be professionally organized by experienced mountain bikers with well supported water points, medics, marshals, timekeeping and the necessary amount of fun single track and features for the whole family to enjoy.
