Event Name: Sani Dragon

The Sani Dragon is a 2-day MTB stage race on the 30th September / 1st October in the Underberg area of Southern KZN. The event will take place over the same period as the annual Underberg Farmer’s Association (UFA) Agricultural Show starting and finishing each day at the UFA Showgrounds just outside of Himeville.

 

Day 1 will be approximately 60km in length and will form a large loop incorporating some of the most scenic district roads, jeep tracks and single track in the Underberg & Himeville area.

 

Day 2 will be just over 60km in length and will be highlighted by a climb to the summit of the famous Sani Pass before returning back to the Showgrounds. There is no other MTB event that incorporates the Sani Pass.

 

There will also be a DRAGON LITE event to comprise of a 2-day stage race but with lesser distances of approximately 40km each day and a climb on Day 2 to the SA Border Post rather than the summit of Sani Pass.

 

Both events will follow a Team of 2 format but there will be a category for solo riders.
