Pro Bike Tech KZN Experience

Hi Guys

I've bought and sold loads of things on the Hub over the years and only had 1 bad experience, this was last week with Peter from Pro Bike Tech on KZN and I thought I'd share the story.

 

A Zipp firecrest wheel was advertised by "pocketrocketpro" as NEW. Just what i was looking for and in the ad it did not say Tubby or clincher.   I asked if i could come and see the wheel as it was advertised as Western Cape (strange since they in KZN).  Peter then told me they are in Hillcrest at Pro Bike Tech.

In my haste and excitement I bought and paid for the wheel very quickly after it was advertised, and paid for courier to CPT.

I did not ask if it was a Tubby or clincher (My Mistake 100%).  He sent me photos but conveniently not a single one of the top of the rim.

 

When I received it I saw it was a tubby and was dissapointed that I bought the wrong wheel type.

But I saw that it previously had a Tubby glued on it as there is still glue on it and a loose nipple floating around the inside.  To me this is not a "Brand New" wheel.  Granted it does not appear to be used as the brake track is clean, and it is in great condition.

 

Anyway I phoned him and he answered with a different name?  I then asked this chap to tell peter I don't want the wheel, can I send it back at my cost and get a refund please.  He seemed to know the whole story already, which I thought was strange.  Anyway I get an sms later from Peter saying "hey, bud in the ad it said tubby (no it didn't, only in the comments), I wont do back and forth from KZN, (although I paid courier and will pay again to send it back so no expense to them, if you are not happy then sell the wheel.)

I then phoned him and he sounded just like the guy who said he was not Peter in the morning?  I said if he doesn't refund me  by Monday (4 days) I will post this on the HUB,which i'm doing.  He then replied and said that he is not involved with Pro Bike Tech and is a middle man, and his name is not Peter.  What ????

 

That's what really got to me was now he appeared to be lying so to accept no liability whatsoever.

 

I'll keep the wheel sell it myself now.  Its my fault that I bought the wrong wheel, but it was not "NEW" so i never got what I thought it was anyway.

We all buy an sell stuff because we love cycling and the HUB is a safe space with like minded people.

 

My main gripe though is if you are a shop or care about your name or a customer, why create a big story? Stick to your guns and say sorry no refund sorry its not what you want but i can give you something else or a credit or something, but act like you arent' the person who sold it to me and make up a story, come on!!!

 

We talking R3K, was it worth that?
