We've had some great feedback from last year and decided to keep the routes basically the same.

Route descriptions : All 3 routes start and end at "Julie se Baai" in Stilbaai. From the start you will be escorted for approx 1km before you enter the Pauline Bohnen nature reserve. You start off with a proper climb to get those juices flowing - about 1.5km of gravel road. Then you enter jeep tracks for the next 3km followed by single track for approx 1.5km. At the 7km mark the 13km split from the 36/60km riders.

13km - the next 4km is jeep track and then you do a small section of gravel road before descending to "Julie se Baai" for the finish.

36km/60km - After splitting away from the 13km route you will ride some more jeep track for approx 2km followed by a gravel road section of approx 1km - here the 36km split away from the 60km.

36km - You will do a jeep track section of approx 11km before getting to a gravel road section of approx 12km. After this 'easy' section you will once again enter some more jeep tracks for the last 4km towards the end at "Julie se Baai'

60km - After you split away from the 36km riders at almost 10km you will have a gravel road for the next 5km, then you enter a gnarly section comprising of jeep and single track for approx 7km - this section includes a 200 meter section of sand that is almost un-ridable. Some might choose to walk this section. Entering the outskirts of Melkhoutfontein you will have a gravel road section followed by a 11km section of jeep track. This is followed by a gravel road section of almost 6km before you get to the downhill section of "Langhoogte". The route takes you 2.5km downhill before going up "Langhoogte" for another 2.5km - both these sections are completely off-road and single-track which will be the "make or break" section on the route. At the top of "Langhoogte" you will exit onto a gravel road for approx 25km before entering the last 4km of jeep track which will take you to the finish.

Summary -

13km - Fun with almost all of the route consisting of jeep track and single track

36km - Very balanced route with almost equal amount of gravel roads, jeep track and single track - very enjoyable ride

60km - Quite a workout with lots of varying terrain to keep you focused - a testing but enjoyable route

AMANA PROPERTIES STILBAAI MTB CHALLENGE 2017 -
- WORKING ON THE ROUTES
Beautiful scenery, prestine nature reserves and lots of fresh air from the sea - these are all guaranteed at the upcoming Stilbaai MTB Challenge on 15 April...
... the white rocks are (unfortunately) part of the Stilbaai area and we know that riders do not like those at all, especially the loose rocks.
So, we are busy 'cleaning up' and getting rid of the loose rocks so that the route will be even more enjoyable to all.
Scroll down for more information about the routes and visit www.stilbaaimtb.co.za for the maps of the three routes.
Then: enter via the online entry system or the 'manual' entry form available on the website or this page.
