Garmin 920 XT

So I eventually got round to opening up my watch and removed the barometer from the PC board and found it was full of sea sand granules but not completely blocked.

The barometer is filled with a white sticky non setting type of silicone (best way to describe it) but while removing the sand granules the silicone came out aswell.

I could not find on google what they use inside the barometer so I can replace it, but the altimeter is at least reading something variable now, even though it is slightly below sea level.

I assume I have to seal it up inside the barometer, or the water from swimming may enter the watch.

Any guesses as to what may be in the barometer ?

Went to Navworld yesterday to ask if they had an old (or my old) 920 XT in the workshop so I could try and acquire a working barometer from it but no luck there.

I Was told I am not supposed to open my Garmin watch myself  :whistling:

Anyway, guy did a hard reset via his PC on my watch but told me that there is supposed to be sealant inside the barometer, but that was all he would tell me.

Still to test the climbing to see if it works.

I did a 1000 m swim yesterday in the gym pool and opened the back cover  afterwards and no water ingress.

So maybe it has a seal behind the barometer and the silicone is just to keep grit off the barometer bits.

Oh well, it was dead anyway, so no harm done I hope.
