Alastair_S1D Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 Hey guys. Just wanted to know. Any of you had any experience with Shimano's optislick gear cables vs.their top end polymer coated cables? My Ultegra R8000 came with the polymer coated cables and I recently replaced them with plain steel cables. And they HAVE NOT been shifting nicely. But the polymer cable set is double the price of the Optislick cables. Have any of you ridden them side by side? The other thing that worried me about the polymer cables was the possibility of the polymer coating coming off inside the housings and hamming up the system. As it seems the polymer layer seems to come off very easily.
