Hobby Park in Krugersdorp to expand offering

I was chatting to one of the three owners of the 210hectare grounds comprising Hobby Park. They did not renew their contract with the Hero bike park people and, in addition to their existing offerings, are now planning to introduce all sorts of events, such as mtb races, a 24 hour mtb race, an outdoor and 4x4 expo, sunday music, trail races and other events. The focus will be on creating a venue specifically to cater to the residents of Roodepport and Krugersdorp. Hopefully this all comes together and the west rand can also boast of a strong bike park

This is actually not new. The 4x4 was always there and it was the focus. When they enterred in the contract with Hero the new single track was created as before it was only the 4x4 tracks. The last part of the purple route around the mashie golf course has been neglected for a while now and the single track has been overgrown and also parts of the track has been coverred with some huge tree branches. As for MTB races it is also nothing new as the Silver Star race used to go through the park. Trail running for the past 18months has also increased.

I hope they create something special now that they are on there own again.
