Rating value for money on events

Just a thought. When one looks at the highly varied entry fees charged for events, some appear to be great value and others appear to be expensive. But are they? Take, for instance,two long distance one day gravel road events coming up early next year, these being the 167km Race to the sun(starting Hartebeespoort dam and finishing Sun City -a complex gps route through a multitude of properties with 7 or 8 water points) and the Lindley Gravel Grind(a twin event 116km or 230km route out in the rolling country side of the wide open Free State mielie lands -i am looking at the 116km event only. Two water points). Both events are gps routing only with route guidane on a few critical intersections only. Both cost R900. Both involve traveling, with the Sun event being possible as a one day event but the Lindley event requiring at least one nights stay over. It would seem the Lindley event offers less value, but is this so? Hence my question of - is there an on line system that organisers could subscribe to, to have their events scored from a value offering point of view.
