Hi guys,

I seem to be one of the more unlucky folks with punctures on road bike tyres. Even with Hardshell Gatorskins I still get the odd puncture. I guess it may be where I ride.

In any event, I have decided to try a bit of sealant in the tubes. I purchased some of the Ryder sealant. I see they recommend 100 mL for "racing bikes". Now given that road bike tyres cover a wide range of sizes, I have some reservations about that and it also seems to be a big quantity (you put about 125 mL into a mountain bike). In my case I am talking about a 28C tyre. I guess 40 mL to 50 mL is probably about the right amount?

Any thoughts?

Most brands recommend +-40-60ml for road tubeless, in line with what you've said.

I should also point out that you're likely to get very mixed feedback re sealant in tubes, and then also which sealant actually works.

Thank you very much.

You're right re the sealant and mixed results but I have little to lose by giving it a try and seeing how it goes.
