The British track team has broken the world record in the Olympic team sprint on Friday. In the qualifying round, the squad of Jamie Staff, Jason Kenny and Chris Hoy clocked a phenomenal time of 42.95 (62.6km/h)

Great Britain's Bradley Wiggins broke his own Olympic record on his way to qualifying for the first round of the men's pursuit, going 0.134 seconds faster than his qualifying ride in Athens four years ago with a 4'15.031.

Okay.

Back on the topic, I'm not liking the way swimming appears to have "devalued" one of their most precious items, namely the world record.

 

It's strange how a sport like cycling, where one would think there is more of an influence due to technology (than in swimming), does not have a new world record in nearly every single event....
