turtlek my wife started in a later group and the chip read correctly. (although now I am beginning to wonder). I think winning time needs to clarify this.

I've emailed winning time and we'll see, but logically it can't start all the chips that are supposed to be in that group. What about those who didn't pitch do that get a DNF or those sitting on the toilet in the carpark? Something not right.

How is it possible to be fifth in your group and you are first on Winningtime and the winner fourth???

They will tell you the person who is first on winning time crossed the starting matt after the person who actually won.  Therefore having a lower time in that group than the actual winniner once crossing the finnish matt.

If you are in a racing bunch then you are placed manually by the officials.  If you are not then you are obviously not serious about racing for positions, so who cares if WT places you as 1st or 5th especially if time difference is nominal.

As for start mats, they are there to record which group you started in and to prove that you did in fact start.  Time should be calculated as the time you finished less the official start time of the bunch you started in.  That is certainly how all of CC races are calculated, although I remember the Argus was a bit weird in that regard.  You should have an "actual" which is the difference between the  time across finish less time across start mat.  Your official time is the one mentioned above.

Just got this from winning time

You are timed from the

group that you start with on the morning. The only time that this would not be

the case, is if your chip does not read over the start mats. If this happened,

the system automatically adds you to the start group that you were originally

seeded in.
