Stellenbosch University Sport Performance Institute (SUSPI) together with the Pedal Power Association (<?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />PPA) are proud to announce a series of cycling workshops for all cyclists, from beginners to elite athletes. The workshops will be presented alternatively at Coetzenburg in Stellenbosch and at the Bellville Velodrome. Each two hour workshop will cost R50, which includes handouts and special prizes, as well as snacks. Starting times: 19:30 for 20:00.

v  Functional Training and Periodization ? 14 Oct Stellenbosch, 21 Oct Bellville.

 

v  Nutrition and Supplementation (Proper Nutrition for Cyclists, Correct Supplementation. Fads and misconceptions) ? 28 Oct Stellenbosch, 4 Nov Bellville.

 

v  Injuries and Related Problems (Common cycling related injuries, injury prevention, bike setup, overtraining syndrome and other problems) - 11 Nov Stellenbosch, 18 Nov Bellville.

 

v  Psychology of Cycling or Functional Training and Physiology II -  25 Nov Stellenbosch, 2 Dec Bellville.

 

Presenter

Andrew Smith, an experienced cyclist working as a lab technician at Stellenbosch University?s Department of Physiology?s exercise lab and final year MPhil student (Exercise Science), will be the main presenter of the workshops. Experts from various disciplines such as physiotherapy, physiology, nutrition and psychology will assist at selected evenings.

 

Anyone with an interest in sport and cycling is welcome in the workshops, from beginners to elite athletes.
