i did it 3 years ago. dont go out to hard in the beginning. The climb is a monster!! try not to use your granny gear, to much torque which lifts your wheel of the ground. just get a nice rythm and stay with that until you aqre at the top

oh, and be careful of the pasta on offer at the pre-race dinner thingie. got to the top of naudesnek, lost a coupla kilos. wasn't pretty. gave up and went back to the hotel to heal up before the wc final! awesome race though! did it twice before last year's failed attempt, so i wasn't too bummed! the first climb is a killer, but worse is the fact that you lose so much of that altitude-gain straight away. the raods seemed nicely graded last year, but that can change. expect everything: changing weather, rutted roads, a lethal descent at the end! man, that's still my all-time favourite race. lovely little town!

My sons were there last year doing the short distance. The one also got  food poisoning from the pasta and spend quite a bit of time in the bushes, checking out the flowers - hehehe
