You need to use the recommended pressures as specified by your suspension fork and rear shock manufacturer. There are many types of manufacturers and even many many many more models by each manufacturer.

I run mine softer than there recomendation..... but thats just me..... and even on the worst dropoffs i never bottomed it out..... I spoke to one of the techis at fox and he says it can do no harm.....
