Lloyd Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Dear subscribers I have been looking at the the above two mountain bikes, and would like to know if you might be able to advise me. I like the look and feel of the specialized however it is R3000 more than the giant, could you please advise if the giant will be suitable for xc and mountain trails or shoudl i bite the bullet and fork out the extra dosh? _BBi Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Giant, even though I ride the the previous version op the Spez Stumpy (the same as the current XC) just from a financial point of view. They are very close in ridability.

Giant it isU'r gonna make a large purchase based on what 1 person that you dont know on a random forum said?Insane!!!!!Firstly, Goto WWW.MTBR.COM and read some reviews. Then try and ride each bike, compare specs, look at the warranties of each, look at the suppliers, components etc.

I have been looking at these two bike for the last 3 months, i have read the reviews on various mountain bike website as well as purchased some mountain bike magazines, I have also read through what ever forums i could to get a general overview of the pros and cons of each bike. I still prefer the specialized however i need to purchase a bike before they are either sold or increase in the next weeks or months. I test drove the giant anthem 2 again today so in all honesty i am still on the fence, and as the other subscriber advised from a cost perspective the giant anthem is most likely the better option. This is a tough choice and i have really tried to do my research on this but when you are on the fence trying to decide it gets tough and opinions or advice from people can really help. So thanks for your reply and that is one of the main reason i shared my question on this forum cause feedback like yours is vital. Thanking you Lloyd
JPW# Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 If I had the cash,...I would buy the specialized carbon shoes and ride the Giant ) If I won the lotto I would spend the 50k and buy the best trek.
