Retro MTB Project

My Hub sourced Retro hardtail project.  The Kona AA with yellow RS 21R fork was my dream bike why back when....

So I was very happy when I found the 1995 AA frame.Big%20smile

The fork is a 60mm Judy C of the same age with a long travel kit that increased the travel to 80mm that has been on my Mongoose for ages.  The groupo is mostly 7sp LX.  I still need to replace the Sachs FD as it is using a heavy duty spring that does not work that well with the shifters.Shocked

I am currently using the single speeds projects wheels with old school (1.95?) Tioga XC tires which I will most probably replace with something with a lot more volume, read softer ride. Embarrassed

Very nice. I have a Kona Hahanna cromo frame that i am deciding what to do with. My biggest prob is trying to find a fork!!!! any ideas? Did you respray that frame? Where did you get decals?

Yip, KDEE, as you can see I put them to good use. Clap<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I am definitively going to use the bike.  That is what I build it for.

Wesf, the frame needed a lot of TLC.  To keep the cost down I simply touched up all the scratches and stone chips.  So it is still the original graphics.  The end result is good enough for a MTB.Ermm

I also have 1996 rigid CroMo Hahanna that I want to convert to a single speed but the project has been put on ice due to the credit crushLOL.  I am also still using its wheels on the AA at the momentEmbarrassed.  I want to upgrade my other Kona to disk brakes but that project has also been a victim of the credit crunch and unaffordable UST tiresOuch. I have a problem paying more for a single UST tire than I paid for the HahannaDead.  The moment I have done that I can use it?s wheel on the AA and the Hahanna can have its wheels back.

Cool bike man, wana see if I can rediscover my first bmx. Last I remembered I sold it for R50 to our gardner when I was 6. Did the whole Evil Knievel thing back then on that trusty bike, will love to see it again
