I'm seriously thinking about picking up one of these, having used a T6 previously.

I'll be honest, the big draw is actually being able to track training effect and HR whilst riding

I know there are a few Hubbers who've gone with the T6C and I wanted to hear peoples thoughts before putting cash down (these things ain't cheap - what is it with SA prices on this kit anyway; international prices are way less)

So I'm now reading that you have have your T6 firmware upgraded to T6C by sending the watch back to Suunto Finland... cost is 99Euro and includes a comfort belt, the new style HR strap.

Just gotta figure out postage costs....

I've done quite a bit of research on this and apparently the old T6 is a sturdier unit that the new T6C. Although you get real time TE you lose out on your altitude reading with the new firmware.

I suppose it all depends on what riding and training you do.

I've also got a suunto PC pod, so I've been making use of the training monitor to actually watch live graphing of HR during IDT based workouts - makes it much easier for me to stay within the target zones; no more speeding/overdoing it.

I'm only a recreational rider, but I've always been my own worst enemy; riding / training like an idiot and ending up sick.

That's also the appeal of the T6C, having HR and real time TE displayed on the same screen, perfect means to measure and control outdoor rides.

Apparently the altitude is still displayed on the downloaded workout, just no longer has a screen of it's own on the watch

I find it very useful when riding stage races to be able to see the altitude. As for the TE I prefer to use the HR limits and try and stick to the avreage heart rate with the calculator.

I say that but its not like I have actually trained with real time TE. Also I'm not that anal about being 100% within my limits.

I can recommend someone who sets up training programmes using TE. Very good.
