Hi Guys,

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I bought some roof racks for my VW Polo to put the bikes on the roof.

They seem to be leaking pretty bad. The car has been to Volkswagen twice to try and fix it.

Has anyone else had this problem or is it just me??

If you know any DIY methods to fix this is would really help. It was like having a shower in my car today with the rain. Angry

Thanks

I recall having a similar problem with the Thule rack on my '06 Polo. The clamping arrangement stops the door seal from forming a proper seal.

It annoyed me for a while until I remembered that Thule had given me a set of thin rubber tube-type things that you put into the door seal. Once I installed those: no more leaks.

My description is not the best, so I'll take some pics when I get home this evening.

Hmmmmm. Have you tried closing your windows?

Seriously though, Landies have smaller gaps in their rubber. Is that a VW roofrack? I would take it back where you bought it.

How do the Thule racks fit?

haha yes i keep the windows closed. just had to let the seats dry a bit.

Those are the VW racks, i was told they are made by thule but turns out they not.

The thule ones fit the same way but the metal piece that goes in the door is smaller. the racks are also more than double the price of the VW ones.
