Face Plant Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 im looking at buying a road bike and have looked at a number of bikes i have come down to three options Silverback Montereycarbon frametiagra componentsweight 9.3 kilosPrice R14 000 Felt F85alu frame105 componentsweight 8.99 kilosR 12 000 Felt F95 Team additionalu frametiagra componentsweight 9.6 kilosON Secial R 6890 Now the question i have is is it worth spending double the amount for a carbon frame and only gain 0.3 kg? Does components really make such a huge difference? the Felt F95 is an awesome looking bike but am i going to regret not paying the extra money? any advise please
The expat cyclist Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Be careful with weight numbers as thath all depends on the frame size. The 9,3kg carbon might be a size medium and the 9.6 alu might be small. My theory? Buy the best frame and upgrade the rest over time!
