I have been to Avnic several times and always had excellent service. Have you told them about the mount failure? I am almost sure that they would give you one, Mahala.

I have also found lately that the heart rate monitor doesn't always work. They actually mention that you should then use some electrode gel. Well, Vaseline or ordinary skin moisturizer also works. Give it a try. smiley1.gif

Yes heart monitor does give plenty issues. On Sunday I was going downhill and went from a 60% MHR to 85% MHR at which point I reseated the belt and the HR dropped back to 60% odd.

Also had a couple 120-140% MHR  readings due to this issue.

Was just wondering, would waxing my chest help?LOL

Edman,

Thanks for the very informative post. I will take the prescribed actions with my sensor - never realised that it's not waterproof!!

Cheers,

If you do the repair, it is essential that you use a neutral curing sealant. The fumes released by an acid curing sealant (usually smells like vinegar) can corrode the circuit board.

As promised, the Motionbased link:

Cadence/Speed transmitter woes

He mentions using bathroom sealant as a potential neutral curing sealant. Don't try that here: the only bath/shower sealants I've found have been acidic.

The sealant I used was called Bostik Mirror sealant and came in a 90ml tube. Looking at their site, it appears to have been discontinued.

They also have a neutral-cure sealant, but it comes in 310ml cartridges:

Thanks Edman,

No problem about the size - I'll buy a tube and keep it for other building projects. I'm hoping that there is actually stock of it in the local hardware stores...

Cheers,
