Disk Calipers

Hi Guys,

 

Please could someone confirm, are front and rear calipers normally the same (lets assume Juicy 3s - not yet decided on which to get)? I.e. same mounting position, physical size?

 

The reason I ask is that I am currently looking to add disks to my Trek VRX400, so i ordered a A2Z adapter as the old girl has a 22mm mount on the rear that they used to put Hayes Direct Mount calipers onto. The issue is have is some guys say that the adapter lifts the rear caliper and i would need to run 180mm rotors, however they say if i use a front caliper then the 160mm caliper would be right.
