  1. Hahaha. Vertically challenged ???? I'll have to check the roof fitting before I purchase. Thanks for making me aware of the height issue.
  2. Excellent advice. Our batteries remove very easily. Practicing is a great way to check. I spoke to Thule. They suggested a little stool to stand on next to the car. But as you said the mini is not very high. Appreciated. ✌️
  3. Hi I want to be able to carry two ebikes with my Countryman. Should be 40kg total if batteries are removed. I occasionally use my Ebikes but want to know I can tag it along if I want to. I am aware of these options: 1. Roof rack. Difficult to get ebikes on the roof. Least expensive. I can justify the cost easily but getting the ebikes on roof is another story. 2. Attach a carrier to the back. Thule has a raised carrier at R10990. 3. Towbar plus carrier is the ultimate solution. But my little use does not justify the cost. What do you suggest?
  4. Good questions. She should answer these. I send this link to her. Appreciated. ✌️
  5. Hi Chris Here it is. Small group with a lot of experienced travelers. https://www.facebook.com/groups/sacycletouring/?ref=share
  6. Hi We have a Facebook group on cycle touring in Southern Africa. Kimberley Jacobs joined the other day and asked, I will be traveling to South Africa (staying in Cape Town) from July 22-August 3. And I will be bringing my gravel bike. I would love to connect with some people in the area and maybe do some rides. I suggested she get out of the city to Stellenbosch, others side of Durbanville etc. Can she do parts, easy bits of Tokai and Table Mountain - if her gravel bike can do it? Let me know what I can tell her. Regards Johan
  7. I wonder how the lock down will affect our cycling. If I cycle alone it may not be an issue but how do authorities control movement? I suppose the easiest is to stop all movement.
  8. Hi I have been looking at recumbent bikes for a long time. I am familiar with the pros and cons. I now just want one. BUT I am looking for a reasonable secondhand one and it does not matter if it's old. Or needs some care. If you know of someone who does not use his recumbent or want to sell one. The least expensive one I can get laded in SA at R23000 excluding Tax. Obviously my first recumbent should be relatively cheap as I don't really have an option to give it back or easily sell it if I don't like it. What relatively cheap means is not simple but I would think less than 50% of the new one I can buy. R10 000 or less even better. Now, I realise you may be reading this and think I am pretty poor informed. I am not. And if you have a recumbent for sale at higher rate, please forgive me. I am willing to risk buying an old bike to learn if I like it.
  9. Hi David This is what my local bike shop had to say about the L-Twoo. I am not sure how well he knows these products. They are cheap. But reviews I have read on AliExpress users give it high 4.8 out of 5. Lbs quote, "Cassette R480, derailleur R285, shifter R360, chain R240... Labour approx R200. Guarantee =0 ????"
  10. Hi it's a local designed touring cross bike with front shocks. It's 29er. Excellent value for money compared to my Ebike at more than double the price. https://darrvinshop.com/ebikes/darrvin-connect-cross

  12. Very helpful. My gut tells me the cassette change will be simpler.
  13. Hi Good question. It was designed as such. Or I bought it like that. How difficult would it be to make it three upfront?
  14. Thanks Gemerbal She has a 36 upfront. If she hits 35 km per hour it's a record. She likes biking but not big on speed. Now I understand the extender.
  15. Thanks David. Is this what you suggest? https://www.aliexpress.com/i/32982291927.html
  16. Hi this sounds pretty simple. I need to check what a derailleur extender is. You stuck to 8 speed or your original cassette? And did not need anything else? Gathering from what you said I need nothing else. I think I must get the tools to do this. I checked a few videos on how to do it and looks like a need some or other chain clamping tool. Could be fun.
  17. Excellent. Thanks. Many more options than I thought. Appreciated. I'll investigate these options. Interesting to not mess around with 8 speed but to go for the shifters, derailleur and cassette.
  18. Hi I would like to add more granny abilities to my wife's bike. BTW Single in the front. I suppose I can go smaller here as my wife is not into speed. Changing to 11-34T cassette should not be a problem but I am not sure if this small change will make a massive difference.???? I am told going to a 11-42T would need a derailleur and longer chain. Also, I could only find 11 42 at Ebay or AliExpress. If I buy a 42 what else should I buy? How do I ask for a derailleur going with a 42? ????????????
  19. Thanks. I was wondering about getting a three bike rack for space ANC just incase.
  20. Hi I want to buy a bike rack for my Mini (countryman). No towbar. Which rack should I consider? We have two bikes.
  21. Hi I am considering importing an ebike motor from AlieExpress. And looked into the options. Leonard at http://www.relectro.co.za/ build batteries and do ebike conversions. He is amazingly helpful.
  22. Hi I would like to buy SPD Sandals (yes. Various reasons). I am in Cape Town. Can I get these locally? I can import. Amazon would be easy. But Nashbar carries Shimano sandals at a good price. My problem is that it looks like they don't ship to ZAR. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  23. Thanks. Kind of you. [emoji111]️ Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
