  1. Make me an offer. I am in Centurion.
  2. I am a "middle of the pack" rider and had limited confidence with the Rocket Ron's that came with the bike. I can't imagine how they will be at race speed. The RR with <200km is now hanging in the garage as I have switched to Maxxis Crossmark LUST and now have much more confidence in the grip, even in the wet parts. I used to run the RR at 3bar and now the tubeless at 2 bar, maybe that is the huge diff.
  4. MTB in South Africa grew extremely fast over the last two years! The general feeling of most riders I spoke to (middle to end of pack) is of the opinion that race organizers is getting it wrong. They are making races too technical. You would have had a wonderful experience during a specific race in 2009, just to find the "new" route for 2010 being too technical. Fact is that 90% of MTB riders only get to train on offroad once a week and maybe get some minor technical routes once a month. To expect all to hit the same technical stuff as pros becomes rediculous. Take the MTN series as an example: People that have done both the 75 and 50 at Clarens vowed never to do it again!! The general suggestion is to make the normal Marathons and Half Marathons fair to 90% of riders. Leave the serious technical stuff for areas within the Ultra Marathons and for XC. You present the riders, please express your opinion and also think about the sosial riders that will not be hub members.
  5. Stormers 24 - Bulls 15 Bulle!!
  6. APRIL FOOLS DAY
  7. It is the 1st of April!!!
  8. Thank You very much for everyone who participated in this poll. Mountain Bikers take note. According to the poll you cannot go wrong with either of the following combinations: Maxxis Crossmark Front & Rear Continental Mountain King Front & Race King Rear If you want something different, have a look at the comments and you WILL be able to select something that might work for you.
  9. LUKEP I am currently running Rocket Ron non UST with tubes at 3 bar and find it to be iffy. I started this poll as I need to get something that will work. I rode a friends bike at Northern farms with Kenda Small Block Eights and found that I immediately had more confidence regarding the feedback given with feel and grip. The sidewalls of the Rocket Ron is extremely thin. Will they last tubeless? Maybe I can try it for the interim?
  10. Thanks for the input. Hopefully we will get a lot of people to vote, giving a good comparison.
  11. Are you sure? Normally you will have the Mountain King (2.4) up front and the Race King (2.2) at the rear. Why will you go with the gripiest tyre at the back?
  12. We are still requiring plently of votes to get a meaningful result.
  13. What do you concider as the best MTB tyre? Vote at https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=80141
  14. You say it was not bad? Where did all the sand come from? I did the previous 3 and there was almost no sand! I hated the part (uphill you cannot see), where the flies was swarming around your face. Will do it again, but must the route be exactly the same each rime?
  15. Following the feedback from my earlier poll, I have created a new poll with just the combinations that came out tops. Just stick to the options in this poll as these came out the clear leaders from the previous poll. You may however supply a montivation via reply if you strongly feel that another brand/combination is better. Mountain Bikers, please give your honest opinion as the results of this will assist plenty of riders to make an informed decision. Tyre choice is a personal preferance, but the result of the poll may just indicate which combination is the best. Only a lucky few can afford to have dry and mud tyres. You need to concider a single combination that will work all year. see the previous poll https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=80104Aggies2010-03-20 13:47:22
