  1. Got the all clear from the Physio today so I should be taking her out for the first time on Saturday. Will try take a few pics and give some feedback next week.
  2. For those that are interested, I took delivery of my Raleigh duo this week. I bit the bullet and bought it pretty much solely for the disc breaks and newer components. My Exocet was an amazing ride but battled to slow us down and had a sometimes dodgey FD (although I'm aware both of those issues are general tandem issues across the board) Unfortunately, it arrived the day after I pulled out my back/neck so I actually haven't ridden it yet. Should get the all clear from the physio this week and get some time in the saddle before Argus. I was suprised to find an ultegra FD on it, but I'm not gonna complain. The frame is much lighter than my exocet was, but I'm not overly impressed by the QC on the paint job. I've picked up a new 12-30 ultegra cassette to get closer to the familiar gearing of our exocet and help us up hills. I'll get that fitted this week, give it a nice setup and hopefully be able to give some feedback on how she handles on the road.
  3. I'm looking for something between R15k and R30k. Ideally, 105 components and disc brakes. Nothing else (other than size) is that important to me. Canondales are excluded because of price, The Avalanche didn't impress me when I took it for a test ride, and I wasn't really looking for a MTB tandem anyway. I already have a decent second hand tandem, but I'm looking to upgrade to a newer model with disc brakes. Given the price range, I expected to at least have a few options to choose from?
  4. Thanks Meyer1. I've dropped them an email. but they only list the above 2 bikes (Canondale and Avalanche) and one other random cruiser. I'm looking for more affordable road bike tandem options.
  5. Am I looking in all the wrong places, or are there only 3 options for buying a new tandem? Option 1: Canondale Tandem (R45k+) Option 2: Avalanche ENVI 29er (R13.5k), Option 3: Raleigh Duo (surprisingly, only listed on Makro's site R29k - No bicycle shops have actually mentioned it to me) Where are the rest of the options? Surely the market is big enough for more than 3 brands to compete?
  6. Hey bikehub peeps I'm considering an upgrade, and wanted to pick y'all brains on what would be a fair price if I decided to sell my current bike. Raleigh Team full Carbon frame (2009 If I'm not mistaken?) with Dedaccia Carbon fork. Carbon Seat Post Shimano R500 Wheels Shimano 105 10 Speed Groupset. Size 54cm. CT based. It has a few minor scratches on it and needs a good clean, but otherwise looks good and works 100%. Seat & Bar wraps are starting to show wear. I've loved it despite the fact that its actually too small for me. I'm considering an upgrade to the correct size. This is the closest to a comparison that I can find online (although the components are a bit different, the frame is the same) https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/23481-raleigh-team-full-carbon-bargain/ Any input re:price would be appreciated!
