We were out riding on that road Saturday morning, and came upon the scene about an hour after it happened. There was a policeman there, but no ambulance. Shocking scence.... My friend riding with me is a medical Dr and checked Bennie out, but it was much too late. It was not near the silos, it was relatively close to the 4-way stop on the Klipheuwel road, which is a relatively quiet road with a wide yellow lane. No idea how something like this could happen. Very sad... My heart goes out to his family. A couple of us living in Stellenbosch and training for Ironman will from now on hire a car to drive behind us during training.
