  1. I discovered that you could search for an event and year, and then specify the group results for each group's first 100 finishers on the Racetec website (Option 4: Results by Event), so that gives a good idea of how each group rode for that year. I agree with you, will try C and then see how it goes
  2. Does anybody have an idea what the projected average speeds are for the different seeded groups? I have been seeded in B, but am worried this is too fast for me and will get dropped... I have only done two races since getting back into cycling, 947 last year 3h44 25.5kmh (not in very good shape) and R4S last weekend 3h23 (G group) 34kmh (Much better shape, but nowhere near my best) I dont have alot of experience race wise, and my main aim is to do a sub 3hr in 947 this year or next year, depending how I can get my fitness etc up. I am doing a few races this summer to get experience riding in the bunch etc. Know the Cradle very well as its in my back yard. Any thoughts?
  3. Thanks all for the responses. I fitted the last Bontrager R3 TLR tyre yesterday, if I get another puncture that wont seal I will either go for the Conti's or another brand or just put tubes in. I will try and give feedback in time, will appreciate if you guys will also so we can find the best tubeless solution. Regards,
  4. In crosswinds there is a bit of movement but it is predictable, much better than my older Trek also with deep section rims. I went for the 60mm wheels, there are other options available. Good luck!
  5. Thanks Without too much experience to compare to other bike brands, apart from older Trek models like 6.9 which I rode for a number of years, this bike really is unbelievably smooth. I really cannot fault it. Main reason for upgrade was to go electronic on the gears and I have not been dissapointed! Even the rim brakes are much better than my 6.9 which I did not expect at all, to the point where I would say they not far off disc brakes in the dry. I was concerned about spending the money and if it was going to be that much better to what I already had, but I was blown away and it exceeded my expectations! If you willing to spend the money I can absolutely recommend it.
  6. Hi Everyone, I endulged myself recently by upgrading my roadbike to a new Trek Madone SLR with Bontrager Aeolus XXX6 wheels and it came with Bontrager R3 TLR Tyres. Without me knowing the shop made them tubeless and on about my third ride I suddenly got a puncture (glass/ stone cut of about 2-3mm) which did not seal completely at high pressures. When the pressure went down to about less than 2 bar it sealed. As soon as I tried inflating it would blow the hole open again (around 7 bar). I replaced the tyre and three rides later the same happened. This time a small glass shard cut a hole of about 2mm. I managed getting the glass out but no matter how I spinned the wheel or rode back home, the sealant kept on spraying out. Back at low pressure it would seal again. This all happened in the space of about two weeks. Afterwards it would be a 2 hour cleanup to get the bike clean from all the sealant which would litterally go everywhere. I am using "Stans No Tubes Race Sealant" which I was told was the best for higher pressures on the road bike. Now, my question is just, am I doing something wrong or am I just unlucky with these two punctures? The way I feel now it would be better to put tubes in and I don't need to replace the whole tyre everytime. Also the cleanup afterwards is a real pain. As a side note, I ride mostly in the Cradle and surrounds and on average with my other bike (Continental Grand Prix 4000s II with tubes) I would get a puncture about once every 15 rides. Any advice would be appreciated. Regards
  7. Thanks everyone for your feedback. Appreciate it! I think I will eventually once I am fully fit and know my ability look for mates or a group that I can cycle with. Cheers!
  8. Hi, New to this site and also a bit new to cycling again after break of about 15 years..! I do weekend rides in the Cradle on a roadbike on my own. My question is what is the protocol (if that is even relevant) when I find myself doing the same speed as another cyclist or group of 2/3/4 and we sort of end up riding together. Can I just join in the group and sit at the back or is that frowned upon? (I do not want to look like I am intruding in their ride hence rather be at the back- or help by alternating on the front..?) Also when a large group like a club passes, could I join in or do people generally not like that? I found myself joinig a small group of riders last weekend and the one guy kept looking back at me as if to say get off my back wheel, or should I have helped at the front? They ended up pulling away after accelerating at a corner and I could not catch them after that. My main aim is to try and keep up with faster cyclists in order to push myself and get my fitness and skills up. Is there a standard line to ask to join the ride or do I just join in? Thanks
