  1. Also an article was written recently about my thoughts on my US cycle last year & upcoming Africa cycle if anyone wants to read it! Link is here: http://www.the42.ie/tomas-sears-3689912-Nov2017/?utm_source=shortlink&m=ver
  2. Wow, thanks for messaging. I'll reply via email. What kind of side affects if you don't mind me asking? Absolutely, thanks!
  3. I haven't looked at all the injections as of yet; on my to-do list... I don't like injections so I'm trying not to think of them yet ha. But I know I'll need a good few of them.
  4. I've heard of cyclists take the anti maleria tablets yet they still suffered from maleria...
  5. It reached 38.7 celcius when I cycled across America... I coped well enough with the heat considering I'm from Ireland But 40's will be another test. Lots of water! Haha, your advice is greatly appreciated! I destroyed my lower lip for a spell in America and it was very sore to eat... I'd rather if that didn't happen again
  6. A tracker would be a great idea.... I'll be speaking to someone who will hopefully design a website for me - a live tracker would be a nice addition! But if I don;t have a live tracker I'll be updating my Facebook (Tomás' Africa Cycle) , Twitter (@SearsToms) & instagram (searstomas)... Thanks for the sun block info. How hot does it get around South Africa in Feb/March?
  7. 120 days. 100 cycling days averaging 120km per day, and 20 days off... But this will change as I'm cycling in Africa.. It's just a rough guide to start with. But factor in bike trouble, delays at borders, weather, sickness etc...
  8. His website his superb - this will be a great help - cheers for sharing pal ! Wow, amazing. They didn't bother ye? Guessing it was a great sight but a little scary!?! Epic, thank you very much Doug , I'll private message you!
  9. That sounds epic, but I won't be using a mountain bike for this trip. It'll more of a cycle-cross bicycle but I haven't looked at bikes just yet. I'll check out the Michelin Map, sound for the recommendation! Good to get the thumps up from you regarding the route & the added info. How much would it cost to camp at the camp sites? I will most certainly take a day off at the Victoria Falls. My girlfriend's parents were there in August and they Loved it That's fantastic - his information would be very useful! Not at all - I've read of many people getting upset stomachs & worse due to dodgy water... The tablets will be a big help - thanks!! searstoms Ideal - thank you!
  10. The tar road is a huge incentive to take this route.... Thanks for the info! Thanks for the heads up! Is there a road from Nata to Lethlakane via Kubu Island? Or do you have the take the long way around?
  11. Brilliant, I'll meet you for sure to have a chat. Sometime after the New Year if that suits. I actually haven't ridden the Mizen Malin... Not yet. I rode 3000 miles across America last year. I pass through Arusha in Tanzania, But Moshi isn't on my route. Google maps says there is 118km between the two places A shame! But I'd still be interested on hearing your thoughts about Tanzania. Seeing Elephant would be an incredible sight... But I heard they run after people if you cross their territory? I will most certainly consider the Caprivi route. However Khorixas seems to be out of the way a little. After Etosha, I could head to Oujto and onto the B1 to Windhoek to get back on the Tour d'Afrique route. I know, but there is so much to see in Africa, it's tough to fit everything in! I definitely want to do the Victoria Falls in Namibia. I still have to look through their blogs. I've only started planning with a couple of weeks. The Botswana route is as follows : Victoria Falls - Kasane - Nata - Maun - Windhoek via the a3, a2, & b6. What are your thoughts?
  12. I could even skip Botswana. It might add too much miles. Rather, I could head for Zimbabwe and then into RSA. I'm keen to avoid the busy roads of Johannesburg & Pretoria. I could aim for Mokopane and shoot down the 11 to Ermelo, onto the 2 to the coastline & take the coastline to Cape Town. But again, I'll need to check if that adds tons more miles to my route. I had planned on finishing in Cape Town, flying my girlfriend out and then us both travelling along the coastline ourselves maybe as far as Port Elisabeth.. In a car
  13. Looks great, his route is very detailed. I'll try translate it. Thank you!
