Have 3 stages powermeter, one of which is 6 years old. works well but battery life is c100 hours max and earlier models had water ingress issues

My experience was equally bad. Madone frame cracked due to an over tightened front derailleur clamp. No interest from Kim. this was 5 years ago and nothing has changed I see.

I agree and that seems like a plausible explanation. Thus and spam is general has really increased the past 2 years - sign of tough times I guess. Any tech boffs with ideas to extract oneself from this.

Crank bolts may not be tight enough. Had similar issue when applying power on lh crank

finger trouble. 1. Gen 1 meter bought in Feb 2015. Had to be replaced in july 2015 due to battery life of less than 40 hours. The replacement meter has broken its tabs in 3 years despite being very careful in the period. 2. Gen 1 version for XT MTB: working fine. 3. 3rd road powermeter Gen 2 - bought last year but just fitted and strain gauges (according to Stages help desk) is faulty. The zero offset reading is 113. So 2 out of 3 meters have been faulty (3 out of 4 if you count the replacement). Support excellent. Product very poor. Buyer beware.
