  1. Really disappointed to see Albie Nel and Doug Lang on the list. Well known vets on the Gauteng MTB circuit.
  2. Really?? That definitely was not the case on Sunday - started with the 22km loop and ended up amongst the 54km field on the spruit. Not ideal - something they need to consider for next year. Other than that, kudos to them on a cool route.
  3. Just had a look at the route map for the 72km - it looks like we do the 22km loop first and then join back on the 54km. Please tell me that we don't join behind the 54km riders???
  4. To add: Safety is obviously number one. A proper harness (like a car seat), back support and foot cups to protect the little one's feet is a must. Make sure the product has all the safety certifications...

  6. The great thing about the Weeride Kangaroo Carrier is that there's no need for him/her to "hou vas" in case you hit a bump and throw him/her over your handle bars - it has a full harness so they are securely strapped in and even a cushioned support for their head, in case they decide to catch a nap on route.
  7. Definitely better to have the lightie in-front of you, so you can at-least interact - I'm sure he's not keen on staring at your butt - check out the Weeride kangaroo carrier - http://www.weeride.co.za/childrens-balance-bikes/bicycle-child-seat-kangaroo-carrier

  9. Similar to my 32" cruiser - great fun. Especially with the old back pedal brake! I've got a few for sale, if anyone's keen.
  10. Love it! Nice to be able to interact with the little one, instead of him having to stare at your butt
  11. Dar Tanzania & Sekoma island Zambia
  12. Have a look at the Weeride BB option - 10inch wheels, step through frame, adjustable seat - perfect for a 2-4yr old. R 650 off their site. http://www.weeride.co.za/childrens-balance-bikes/push-bike-white
  13. There's a slight adjustment in terms of riding style with the Kangaroo carrier, but you will be surprised how comfortable it is. It's centre mounted so a good center of gravity and proper support and safety harness, so no problem on the singletracks.
  14. Cool article attached..."Dummy on a bike" TheRide.pdf
  15. I snapped my prize possesion (BMC team elite frame) on the way to the Imana wild ride two Sunday's ago. Forgetting that there was a cement pillar above the gate at the place we were staying at in the South Coast - stupid mistake, I know but we were about to embark on the most amazing MTB ride ever - which it ended up being thanks to Johann at Velo Life. We gave Johann a call on Sunday morning (he happened to be on his way to Church) and explained the situation. Johann met us at his shop in Pietermaritz burg at 12pm and no questions asked gave me a loan bike - the amazing BMC fourstroke (dual sus) to ride. Maybe it was just a good selling job, because I've never ridden a better bike in my life, and I've ridden a lot of mountain bikes in the last 12 years. On top of that Johann arrange to fix my damage frame, rebuild the bike and is sending it back to JHB!!! JHB bike shops take note - Velo Life is in town (Rosebank), so you better up your game!! I personally won't consider another bike store, because I've yet to receive the service that I got from Velo Life. Johann and the team - Kudo's to you, and BMC for life!!! http://www.velolife.co.za/
  16. The Weeride Kangaroo carrier is your best and safest option. Your child sits in front of you, so you can at least interact with them on the ride and can see what they're doing at all times. It has full back support as well as a 3 piece harness, it also has support for the head, in case the little one decides to take a nap on the ride. Enjoy!
  17. Does anyone have Heather from Dura Cycles number
  18. Thanks mate, gutted and feel like a real chop!
  19. Thanks for the advice mate, trying to source a bike, looks like we might be coming right.
  20. Thanks mate - will give them a try
  21. It's a medium frame - we need a bike within the next hour or so. Currently in Trafalgar just past South broom
  22. If anyone can assist - my number is 0827292573. Happy to pay for the use of a bike.
  23. Unfortunately not insured
  24. We were on our way to Imana wild ride driving out of the drive way and forgot that the concrete pillar above the gate was too low to get my bike through resulting in a cracked BMC frame! I know this is a long shot but does anyone have a bike in the south coast area that we can loan for 4 days - I would be eternally grateful!
