  1. Thanks man. It's tough to compare locally if there are no other models available to look at but on the whole, I do think you're right. They seem to undervalue second-hand bikes.
  2. Anybody here use the Bicycle Blue Book (www.bicyclebluebook.com) as a guide when evaluating secondhand purchases? They seem to have quite a large library of bicycles and their corresponding values based on how old they are and what condition they're in. Values are all in dollars though but is it a good indicator? Are there other sites that do it better?
  3. Wow. Thank you all so much. This is super helpful. Will consider all of the above. Looking at the difference in price between here (Germany) and SA, I'm half considering buying something back home and shipping it.
  4. Thanks man! Also gives something to go back to them with and see if they'll be reasonable with the price. Really appreciate it.
  5. Could you say why exactly? Is it build quality, age, wheel size? Some things (for example 26" wheels) I'm willing to overlook. I'm only 65kg and 1.69m so I prefer 26", but if it's because you're experience with the Genius is that it's rubbish then that would raise a flag. They're asking 600 Euros btw, which is closer to R9k. (for some reason second hand bikes in Europe are a lot more expensive than SA - generally - anyone know why?)

  7. Hi guys, I'm looking at buying my first full suspension mtb. Been riding hard tails for years. I've come across this Scott Genius MC40 and quite like the look of it. It looks like it's in decent nick. No aftermarket parts though, all original apparently. It's a 2008 though. 26" wheels. Medium-size frame. Any ideas what I should be paying for something like this? I don't want to get ripped off. I've attached a pic.
  8. I didn't give them my card details - just 'signed up' to see how these bastards operate and share my feedback.
  9. Didn't see this thread, but posted the below on the 'Cheapest Scott Bikes on the Planet' thread (https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/175334-cheapest-scott-bikes-on-the-planet/?p=3303682) and figured I might as well post on here too for anyone who still isn't sure about the legitimacy of the site: I registered on the site yesterday to see if I'd get a confirmation email / any sort of legitate correspondence. I did not receive anything. I then sent them a mail on their feedback section asking as to why the payment portal url was not secure. I got this in response this morning (see attachment). Beside all the initial red flags (non-secure payment portal etc) the attached repsonse confirms (to me at least) that it's a total scam. I have reported the site on Google.
