  1. I remember about 4 years ago an incident where 2 cyclists were using the hard shoulder along Hendrik Potgieter heading into the oncoming traffic. Unfortunately the guy in front had enough time to swerve to avoid the oncoming taxi (using the hard shoulder as they do), but the guy behind didn't make it and died at the scene. So whilst there may be some benefit in heading into oncoming traffic on quiet straight roads, I think the dangers far outweigh these benefits.
  2. Enjoyed the race and was glad to see the finish line...BUT..... If I pay for a 60 km event and it ends up being 51.9 kms then am I entitled to feel like I've been shafted somewhere along the way ? Anyone know if the Consumer Protection Act could be enforced against event organisers who do not fulfil the advertised distance for events ? Seems to me this is becoming a common occurrence.
  3. This is terrible - I cycle this route often and have never felt any threat until a few weeks ago, as I turned off at the top of Krugersdorp Hill to go on the dirt road up to the top, there was a guy coming down the track with a cellphone, then as I went further up there was a Bakkie with 3 guys inside. You normally never see any traffic up there so something just didn't feel right so I did a U-turn and did a different route. What can be done to prevent people who may not know about this danger from using this area ? Maybe worth putting up some signage - any ideas ? All the best to Alec for a full recovery.
  4. Hi Borriz, I'd love to know what your off-road route is from Featherbrooke Village to the Cheese Farm, any chance of posting a description or map ?
  5. Anybody know of any trails in the Pilanesberg area (near Sun City) ? I'm camping at Bakgatla just before Xmas and would be great if there's a few trails to ride soewhere nearby.
