  3. Re Willie s accident . He was on a MTB trail near Durbanville where he was showing German rider Mike Kluge ( ex cyclo cross world champion ) some of the new trails in the area . Willie hit a small 3 ton truck head on while going round a fast sweep leading into the farm area. The truck was on the wrong side of the rode , driver was blinded by the early morning sun and never saw the two of them comming down. Willie was taken to hospital for xrays , where it was confirmed that he had not damaged his fragile left leg again . It seems that Willie is ok but it could just as well have turned out ugly

Sounds like worn front chainrings to me , the fact that you had to replace the cassette after putting on a new chain indicates that the next item would be the front chainrings. 3000 km on one chain would result in messing up the front and rear chainblades and cassette specialy if you are a big powerfull guy. The knocking noice that you feel would be the chain moveing over the chainblade and would only happen if you apply less power , once you apply more it woud slip over the teeth .
