  3. Rhebokskloof Flatrock Festival 16-17 November As the clock winds down to the Inaugural Rhebokskloof Flatrock Festival the entire team are putting on the final touches to what we believe will be an amazing weekend filled with Great food, wine, entertainment and activities for the entire family The Rhebokskloof Flatrock Festival will have something for everyone next weekend. weather you are looking forward to the variety of great Trail Runs and MTB races, a place to take the kids for a great outing, or a bunch of friends eager for a day out in the sun with great food, wine and music. Rhebokskloof will be the place to be. There is no need to leave anyone at home. Rhebokskloof is known for Adventure and we have spent the better part of winter doing a number of upgrades and a total revamp of the Trails in the “super bowl “. Fast, Flowing and entertaining. The Trails selected for next weekends events are sure to get those adventurous juices flowing. 1st thing you might notice is that we have decided to start the events a little later than normal. Its weekend and why on earth would you want to wake up, get kids dressed and rush to an event before the sun has even come up. The Flatrock Festival is about fun, relaxation and enjoyment. There will be a host of activities on offer the entire day so relax and get ready to enjoy it, not rush it. Another change is the timing. We have been working hard with our friends from Uwe Koetter to develop a strava based timing application that allows us to offer something a little different. If you are coming to race then yes there are trophies and prizes for the fastest, but what about the climbers or those who want to challenge their mates. This system allows for smaller competition segments where you compete against people in your age and fitness level category, and all you need is your phone or watch linked to our Strava event and BOB’S your uncle. for more info on how to link visit: https://flatrockfestival.uwekoetter.com Trail Runs on Saturday 16 November · 20km – Start time 8:00am · 10km – Start time 9:00am · 5km – Start time 10:00am · 3km (run or walk) – start time 10:30am Online entries still open: www.entryninja.com Timing done through Strava , to link visit : https://flatrockfestival.uwekoetter.com Route Profiles and elevations : https://www.facebook.com/events/968123180188846/?active_tab=discussion What to expect on the Trail Runs 3km and 5km Trail Runs: We have kept both the 3km and 5km as low and close as we can to the main venue , mostly open jeep track but there are single track sections ,The 3km is perfect for kiddies ( accompanied by Adult ) or walkers , the 5km does go a little higher and there is an amazing Cave that competitors will go through , be careful as it is a little slippery but allot of fun . 10km Trail Run: For the 10km Trail Run we decided to pack on the adventure, it is not the easiest with a fair bit of climbing, but well worth it trust us, no serious technical sections and if you walk a bit SO WHAT, ENJOY THE VIEW! We are going to be taking you up to the spectacular Flatrock Viewpoint where you will not only enjoy a snack and drink, but you get to experience one of the most amazing views in Paarl. The trail is filled with single track and great features 20km Trail Run: THE BIG DADDY. By no means an easy trail, but the rewards are out of this world, competitors will follow the same trail at the 10km but after the Flatrock waterpoint continue up the Paarl Mountain all the way to the norther side of the estate where views over Du Toit’s Kloof , Paarl CBD and on a clear day all the way down the valley . The trail includes, caves, forests, oodles of single-track and a variety of fauna and Flora, but have your hard rock legs on as rewards don’t come without hard work . 7. Spice Route Destination and Fairview Estate is one of the most visited attractions in the Winelands area . located lease than 30 min from Durbanville and 40 min from Strand and the City Bowl , it is the ideal venue to take the family or mates for a awesome day out. Spice Route has no less than 5 restaurants , a host of different artisans that include craft beer , gin , chocolate , cheese and 2 new kids play areas that include pump tracks . Developing a Hero Adventure Trail park was a no brainer and together with the land owners we have spent the better part of 18 months developing a network of trails to suit everyone . The Western Cape is blessed with many trails and trail parks .The variety and quality is probably right up there with the best in the world . But when designing and planning the trails at Spice Route our key focus was developing trails for the families and weekend warriors . With Hero - Rhebokskloof , Paarl Adventure Trails and Wild boar trails , the area is packed with great trails for the intermediate -experienced cyclist/runner . We felt there was a gap for trails for the less experienced , juniors and fun trails for tourists . Spice Route and Fairview is a venue where people visit to enjoy the views , wine , food and just have a great time . We have taken that foundation of fun and tried to put it into the trails we have developed . We wanted to develop trails that are not difficult , packed with features and provide a place where newbies - intermediate cyclists/runners can enjoy lots of fun single-track . The majority of trails on offer have very little elevation ,giving weekend warriors ,families and tourists the opportunity to get in some proper distance and experience all the great features on the farm . We have however added in a number of pockets where the more adventrous and experienced get their moneys worth . The 1st few months were not much fun . having to deal with difficult terrain and finding a happy medium between having set trails on a working farm . but as we move into the coming season we are really excited at how the park is developing . TRAILS: * 2 kids areas with obstacles and pump tracks * 3km Yellow Trail : A fun short trail through the vineyards close to the main buildings * 5km Pink Trail : A fun but pretty challenging trail that traverses down to the lower part of the farm and back up. it includes a 2km flow trail and forest , so packed with fun * 10km Green Trail : This Trail in our opinion is perfect for weekend warriors just getting started , families and tourists looking for a fun easy adventure . lots of single-tack , vineyards , olives and and .. * 20km Blue Trail : The popular trail for mates, tourists and families that want some proper distance but not technical . the blue showcases many different parts of the farm and terrain , packed with features and a great experience *35km Red Trail : The Red Trail was built for a great day out for the intermediate cyclist/runner .With all the fun and adventure of the blue but topped off with a few challenges and technical sections to get the adrenalin going . The Red trail also includes sections of the new XCO Trail we developed for provincial xco champs at Diamant Estate next door * XCO Trail : We have a dedicated 5km xco trail on the property next Door ( Diamant Estate ) where you get to experience some proper xco love , also included on the red trail * Link trails : There are also 2 link trails that go up Paarl Mountain and to Hero Adventure - Rhebokskloof . Hero Adventure - Spice Route also forms part of the Paarl Adventure Trail Network and has direct access to over 200km of other trails within the project VENUE: Spice Route is a great venue to enjoy a fun day out after your ride , run or walk . grab a shower at the venue and spend the day with family and friends enjoying all the artisans and experiences . for more info visit : http://www.hero-adventure.co.za

Venue: Rhebokskloof is not only a really special venue to visit with its quality wines , food and other activities . The owners and management are passionate about adventure and constantly look for ways to improve visitor experiences . The Restaurant , conference area and wine tasting venue are currently been revamped to include a coffee shop , new restaurant and cyclist / runner friendly chill areas . The entire team from Hero Adventure continue to work hard to improve our offerings and services to visitors . 16. We are excited to announce the opening of Phase 1 of the Paarl Adventure Trail network . What started off as a far-fetched idea while chatting over a beer with friends over 2 years ago, the massive challenge of building a Trail around Paarl Mountain for Mountain biking, Trail running, and Hiking was accepted, and so started an unforgettable journey of route scouting, endless hours of negotiations Planning and long days in the heat and rain. In December the 1st part of this journey will culminate with the soft opening of phase 1 of the Paarl Adventure Trail Network. This Project would certainly not be possible without the unbelievable support from land owners, venues, stakeholders and the city of Drakenstein who have all worked tirelessly with us to create what was thought to be impossible. Together we have spent the last 12 months developing trails and processes to start what we believe will grow into a product that the entire city can be proud of. What is the Paarl Adventure Trail Network The City of Drakenstein has no shortage of magnificent views, spectacular locations and unrivalled terrain. Adventure sports like Mountain biking, Trail Running and Hiking are a favorite with most locals and attract some of the biggest event organisations in South Africa who come to Drakenstein to host their events. In short adventure sports run deep through the lifeblood of the city.
