  2. 666 that thing is evil
  3. With a lot of hesitation, research, questions , angst etc i was about to buy a Merida 96 3000d. After trying to justify the expense (i could not) i decided to go with a 09 SCOTT SPARK 50. Took it for a ride at rietvlei yesterday , cold wet ride, but the bike gave me such an enjoyable ride i never even took notice of the crappy weather. Man this bike is a good buy and good value for money . it is the 2009 model so does not have the motion controll setup, Pretty sure i can add it. Still busy trying to fine tune the rear and front shocks but wow i like my new ride. Already done the stans tubeless conversion.. big fan of this.
  4. As you can tell it is race bike geometry that i am after. Up until this weekend i though i had figured out which bike i wanted but after the ride b4 you buy i am now very confused. So now id like to ask others for their opinions. Cheers
  5. those 2 were at N farms ..
  6. Howdy. I recently decided to bling out my rm7 . I purchased some kcnc bling rear derailer jockey wheels.. awesome bling bling bits. But ........ after installing the second jockey wheel one closest to the ground my chain now doesnt seem to want to seat / run smoothly on the new teeth it tries to jump off , so you get the click click noise while pedaling. changing gears etc does nothing to fix this . its a shimano xt rear derailer . as soon as i put the old wheel back the noise went away.. any ideas hot to fix? id like to keep the anodised ones on but need to fix this ..
  7. why did you change for the epic.? do you think the mountain kings are a tougher / stronger tire than geax? . I was so close to slapping contis on .but glad i went geax
  8. I recently changed tires. I was so close to getting mountain kings as a lot of my mates i ride with have these tires. I went down to Johnsons cycles works and viewed what options they had with regards to tires. After a while i decided to go with a geax saguro on the front set to traction and a geax mezcal on the rear set to speed .(Pauls suggestion) And wow riding northern farms yesterday i was seriously happy , it is amazing how a tire change can make a bike feel so different. I never really found much mud to ride but i must say current setup on the single track ,a bit damp and in the looose sand and hard pack these tires were great!! Previous setup were cross marks which suck in any form of wet/mud . GEAX i had great traction and great controll on the stoney/rocky downhills ps fitting the saguaro requires some seriously strong tire levers ! also im not running tubeless.
  9. Thanks guys really helpful
  10. Thanks So the two setup types are single pivot and maestro. Have any manufactures actually gotten it wrong.? Ye i have noticed some bikes bob more than others. I was riding rietvlei the other weekend and thought i was making good progress on my Hardtail (raleigh rm7 hybrid) and suddenly realised i was holding up a group of full suspension riders , they creamed me , i guess it may be skill but the way they rode the rocky sections made me drool. Id rather investigate all setups than buy twice so i do appreciate the input . morewood .....droooool
  11. Greetings . New to this forum so a quick howdy to all, and hopefully i can get some questions answered by the guru's out there. I am an avid mtbiker and have been riding a hard tail for a while, i am now interested in a full suspension bike (merida 96 yummy) (or morewood or giant or or or ). But i am looking around online and have noticed various rear shock / suspension setups. My question is are there any benefits or negatives as to the placement of the rear shock some are 90 degrees to the rear post others 30degrees etc . Is there a name for the different suspension setups ? and which is obviously better or worse example on merida bikes the 96 and the ONE TWENTY THANK YOU
