  1. I hope the cyclist is OK, that is the main thing. I also hope that a case has been opened. Although we complain about the Police it should not stop us from us approaching them. There might be something that can be done about this particular incident and this does depend on how far the cyclist wishes to take it. The larger issue, however, is yes the taxi industry. There are so many issues with taxis but nothing is done because they are in the pound seats transporting the majority of the population. Government, with a poor public transport system, has no leverage. Its unfortunate and means that it can only be dealt with on a case-by-case basis by the public until something is done at an upper level.
  2. If tubeless tires could win an Oscar I would nominate them
  3. The lack of details provided was slightly concerning. Either way, I see the advert has now been removed.
  4. Thoughts and strength to the cyclist and family. I hope the driver is dealt with properly.
  5. Agree- say hello and do a turn on the front almost immediately to show that you're willing to put in some effort, even if its for a few minutes. Doing a turn (for me) is almost better than greeting - I wouldnt have an issue in that case.
  6. Broadly speaking and applying rules of self-defense: "A defendant is entitled to use reasonable force to protect himself, others for whom he is responsible and his property...it must be reasonable" The force applied by the driver in protecting his property is unreasonable in comparison to the force applied by the cyclist initially when breaking the mirror. Cyclist was acting like a moron though...
  7. I've seen a few around Hatfield in PTA on MTB's.
  8. Reopening this thread. Have there been any incidents around Boschkop/Chickens/the dirt roads around the area lately?
  9. Pretoria via the R55 or R511 and then up the M7 (nice climb). Klapperkop is on the other side of the lump and, if you feel good, you can go over Klapperkop, down Aries, turn around and go back and then down/up Solomon Mahlangu via Nelson Mandela Drive or go over Klapperkop and find Solomon through Lois Drive (good climb). If you really really feel good, you can turn right on Solomon into Rubenstein Drive and do a a few extra KM's up those streets (Jacques Street and Helios in particular) - good luck! Cheers.
  10. Is London Road / Midrand still an issue? I used to live around there and did that route almost daily - great road and was blissfully unaware that people had been targeted. I was more concerned with the Taxi's driving in the wrong lane while heading down Garden Road..
