  1. Give Marco at CycleTech a call - he's in Kyalami. PM me if you want his cell number
  2. Agreed Mampara...there should be MUTUAL RESPECT
  3. Big Corps don't do anything if they don't think it will improve sales....let's hope they don't stop here...and they do MORE for cyclist safety awareness.... Something that in fact our cyclists themselves should be doing...but what a battle to get them to support causes/initiatives.
  4. Engen's latest advertisement asks motorists to respect cyclists. Hallelujah! A big corp taking the initiative to raise awareness for the cycling community. Thank you Engen! It was all over twitter & facebook yesterday. A FaceBook page "Cyclist supporting Engen" was started to show Engen that our community appreciates what they've done. Join other cyclists and show your support by becoming a member. CYCLISTS SUPPORTING ENGEN

Then I suggest you speak to the person who actually overheard the conversation and make sure that he heard correctly. THEN an anonymous tip off....for them to investigate further. Just give them a call with the name and category of rider...from a private number...voila. You've done the morally correct thing in this situation. Because if this is in fact the case - then this cyclist should be banned....and his parents (if he/she under 18) should be taken to task for allowing and administering illegal substances.

I think my family should take up mountain biking instead....with this kind of money being thrown at it.

And then parents want to know why their children keel over of a heart attack before they reach 25 - 30. Do they not know what they are doing to their children's lives? Bloody irresponsible. If I had to hear people discussing this topic...I don't think I'd be able to keep my mouth shut. Glad you're going to report them anonymously. Gauteng North Provincials this weekend (with a very poor turnout I might add) and drug free sport where there doing testing. They should be a hell of a lot more visible at our races. Road and MTB
  9. Thanks GWilson...as long as they're still alive and kicking. Broken bones can heal...can't get a life back.
  10. Mudda....geez - that was definitely a close call. Way too close for comfort. Let's hope and pray this accident was not a fatal one. :-(
  11. Apparently a cyclist was hit by a motor cyclist at the Wilro race today. According to my son, he doesn't think the cyclist made it and the motor cyclists in hospital. A vet cyclist?? He was cycling on the wrong side of the road on blind rise. This is all here say at this stage. Details very sketchy. Perhaps a hubber here knows more details?
  12. Gummibear...you must have had your juice this morning Spot on... this was taken in Lorraine
  13. Hear, hear! Just a pity it takes civilians to do the officer's of the law's jobs for them.
  14. Well well well.... the description of the car was spot on (can't really miss this beauty)...cause some cyclists rode past it this morning...alerted my brother's son...who went and took these. You can see where impact occurred....broken window etc. No wonder his shoulder is dislocated and he has broken ribs. Ouch! So if you are riding your bike in PE...watch out for this asshole. My brother tells me that the driver looked him straight in the eyes....just carried on turning. The car has the broken window - dented bonnet - and paint from his bike on the car as well.... They are tracking the cop car that was called to the scene and these photo's will accompany the case they are opening against the driver as well as the two cops that drove away from the scene. May Justice be done!
  15. The Tour de Eden was a great event..not for the faint hearted though...so I agree with LegTrap in that proposed distance and cut off times NOT for funriders at all. If you look at how the Cape Epic MTB was structured - they catered for pro's as well as recreational riders. so something along those lines...just shorter number of days - and cut off times in line with the funrider. I do believe that stage races should have a qualifying criteria....the aim is to at least have the guys/dolls finish the race. Not like the Epic where 25% of the starters didn't get past Stage 3. The back markers where fighting for survival!!
