  1. Thanks T-Bob, much appreciate the input. Yes the Slade Trail is quite a stretch for the budget but also a much better package, agreed. I started at 8K ???? budget so no more stretching for me. The Manitou fork is really nice, although it was just ridden in the parking lot. I asked for a slightly better deal on the Trek, as shipping pushes it up again, waiting to see what they come back with.
  2. Thanks for the replies. Hard to tell without riding an actual bike I guess. The Trek prob will be sold by the time the Slade Comp is available in bike shops. It also has a dropper post btw, but apparently the fork isnt great, any experience with the XCM coil forks?
  3. **Re-post from Bike Room forum** Getting back into MTB after many years. Im a weekend trail rider, nothing serious. Would like to get a hardtail for budget and maintenance reasons. These are the 2 bikes I'm leaning towards. R12k to 13K region. Trek Stache 5 (2018) on sale at the moment. Silverback Slade Comp 2019 which is apparently landing in bike shops in SA end of October https://silverbackla...kes/slade-comp/ Any advice would be helpful. I understand one of these bikes no one would have seen and is based purely on specs.
