  1. Sure - I have done that though. Just need to know which model is suited for which type of riding from Scalpel,RZ, RIze and Rush. I understand there are components specification differences between each class obviously (Ihe Scalpel TEAM is higher spec'd than Carbon 1) but just need to know differences between classes. IE is the Scalpel a more racer Cross Country bike and the Rush an Intermediate bike aimed at lower maintenance but longer travel suspension for trail riding etc... I would think that I need to try and go for the Scalpel...
  2. There is a Cannondale Rize 3 with Lefty for sale for 22k. Brand New - Is this worth considering? How does it compare to the other models, ie the Rush and Scalpel...Not sure of it's components. Seems like it might be a bottom of the range Cannondale Ful Sus...
  3. And the LAST question - What are the main differences between the Cannondale Scalpel,RZ and Rush? From a performance view point, suspension and maintenance? If one considers the top model in each class...
  4. One Question - What Size bike could I fit into, optimally and comfortably if I am 183cm tall? There is a Cannondale Rize 3 with LEfty for sale and it's a Medium....I think I would be a Large but would a Medium do?
  5. Hi Guys, was out for a bit - The thing is this: Sure I need to up my budget if I want to get something that is relatively new,say late 09/10, but that is not my plan. I can reliably buy a Scalpel 07 or maybe 08 within my budget (Maybe a bit more) and get a top performance bike for a third of the price of a "New" top of the line bike. I am not going to be doing any "jumps" but will be doing single track/rougher of Cross Country routes here in Stellenbosch. So a racer is what I want. One can easily get a 07/08 Scalpel, as bicycles depreciate exponentially, for between R1k5 and R21k. And the fact that most riders that buy Scalpels have money and like to upgrade every year, so this would in theory be possible - The only problem is that they are so hard to find second hand and in the right year. 2005 is a bit too old as I would like to go, but seems Scalpel owners hang on to their bikes like hell! There are 3 2005 Scalpels for sale but that's just too old for me as I would have to spend another R3k to get it a bit better where I would rather spend the money on a newer model. Sounds a bit stupid, but I have my hopes set on a Scalpel.A very bad situation.
  6. I'm looking for a Large. I'll do that thank's. I presume that a 2009 and 2010 Model (Even Though they would be second hand and much cheaper than NEW) It would still be a bit over my budget. A '07 or '08 would be just right!
  7. That's exactly my dilemma - I HAVE TO HAVE A SCALPEL! Nice Bike - I Just need to find someone that want's to sell his! Don't want to have to go for something else.
  8. Yes that's right - Just tried to give a clear explanation. It is in a U-Shape with the closed part attached to the Rear Shock and the open ends attached to the chainstay's. I am 95% certain it is a Plastic Compound. But that is not the MAIN concern for me at this stage however, I do want to know if this is true, and do they give problems and also my dilemma with buying a Scalpel etc.
  9. Only the Chain stay part of the rear triangle - The down tube of the rear triangle is a kind of plastic.
  10. Hi Guys I'm interested in getting a pretty high spec Cross Country Dual Suspension bike. I've been riding all sorts of bicycles and Dirt Bikes since a kid so I know most of the In's and Out's. But need some brand/price advice nevertheless: First of all I WANT to buy second hand. I want to upgrade every year without suffering to much of a loss when doing so. Obviously NEW is not an option when doing that. And most of all, one can get much higher spec and all round a better bike when buying second hand within a certain budget (Dependant on the condition of the bike). I have my heart set on a Cannondale Scalpel or Rush with a Lefty fork, Dual Suspension and Large frame. There is one standing at the local Bike shop for R12500 and it's a 2005 Model. Very good condition, components are all aesthetically and mechanically in good condition, as is the frame and suspension. The bike is going for 12500 and I offered the guy R11 000 if he puts a new Rear Tyre, BRake Pads and gets the rear plastic part of the Carbon Trtiangle replaced (People have told me that on the Scapel Dual's the Plastic Down Tubes of the rear triangle needs to be replaced every 2.5 Years???).Would it be a good buy?And if YEs/NO, please explain why. Any and all advice is WELCOME. As I've said I really want a Cannondale Dual with Lefty, and would like to go for a newer model, but their so scarce! My Budget is between R10k - R16k. I have in the mean time posted a wanted add but nothing has come up yet (I doubt anyone looks at the wanted adds). I am based in Stellenbsoch (Cross Country Heaven)! THANKS ALL!
