This quaint venue is perfect for the first Western Cape challenge with brand new trails, a picture-perfect mountainscape backdrop and loads of cold brews waiting at the finish after a tough day out on the bike. Event Name: Beast of the East When: 24 April 2021 Where: Legends MX, Gauteng Category: MTB Beast of the East is part of the Protea Fees at Legends MX on 24 April 2021. Mountain bikers can look forward to starting off the day with a massive party and festival vibes. The 100-kilometre race will definitely have a sting in the tail but riders will be spoiled with magnificent views of Pretoria and fast-paced mountain biking trails throughout the Cullinan area. The 45km race is more of a la-dee-da kind of race. If you’re more of a social rider, this is definitely the race for you! Both water points will offer something unique to the participants and it is going to be one massive mountain bike celebration from start to finish. Spectators can join in on the fun at the Cullinan spectator point or hang out at the festival for Francois van Coke and Dirk van der Westhuizen. Each rider receives two additional tickets to the Protea Fees for family and friends. Event Name: Pursuit Challenge #2 When: 3 September 2020 - 13 September 2020 Where: Legends MX, Gauteng Category: MTB The second Pursuit Challenge is a half-marathon (45km) challenge from 3 - 13 September 2020 at Legends MX. The challenge is limited to 300 participants over a 10 day period, where you pick one day and time to race it out. Each rider will decide when their race day will be and results will be uploaded onto the website the next day. You have a chance to redeem yourself again any day within the challenge period. We have a few basic rules all participants need to adhere to, read more here: https://pursuitchallenge.co.za/rules/ Pro Athletes If you want to compete for prize money, you have to enter as a PRO and race on the specific day listed below. There will be media coverage and a prize giving on the Monday after the event. Pro Challenge: 8 September 2020 More detail about the route: We’re building a brand new route for the Pursuit Challenge. Riders can expect three technical sections on the route, something for the adrenaline junkie and also a challenge for a newbie rider. Brand new singletracks, diverse terrain with sand and rocks and riders will have the opportunity to spot wildlife on the route. Route files pending. Will be sent to all riders from the 31st of August 2020 Teams Challenger teams of 2 are allowed to compete. Simply add both members when entering and an "add team" button will prompt. Enter your team name and you will be entered as a team. Riders in this category will not be eligible for age category prizes but will have prizes for top male, female and mixed teams. *Pro riders have to do the challenge individually. Event Name: Pursuit Challenge #1 When: 30 July 2020 - 9 August 2020 Where: Buffelsdrift Trail Park, Gauteng Category: MTB The first Pursuit Challenge will kick off at the popular Buffelsdrift Trail Park from 30 July to 09 August 2020. The challenge is limited to 300 participants over a 10 day period. We set the course, you set the pace. It’s just you and your gear against the clock. Each rider will decide when their race day will be and results will be uploaded onto the website the next day. You have a chance to redeem yourself any day within the challenge period. We have a few basic rules all participants need to adhere to, read more here: https://pursuitchallenge.co.za/rules/ More detail about the route: The first event will have a set course of 84km on the infamous Buffuni trail at Buffelsdrift.
