Just finished a month long solo bicycle tour of northern Natal. Had plenty of great experiences and inevitably a few not so good, but that's par for the course. Avoided tarred roads wherever possible and thus saw places well off the beaten track. Accommodation ranged from campsites, sleeping in the bushes, pitching tent in a Zulu kraal, one night of luxury at Phinda and everything in-between.
