  1. I get your point But I don’t think it has to work like that. It wouldn’t be a guarantee, more like a written inspection report with clear limits. It reduces risk, not eliminates it. The shop isn’t backing the sale, they’re just providing a professional assessment at a point in time. That actually protects them too if it’s documented properly. And there’s still upside for them, inspection fees, potential service work, and getting new customers through the door. So yeah, they probably wouldn’t “endorse” bikes, but offering inspections or reports could still make sense without putting their name on the line... then again its their business.
  2. A thought based on all the trust concerns around buying used bikes: Maybe local bike shops could be part of the solution. Deals could happen at a shop where the bike can be inspected on the spot, with a inspection fee per bike. Alternatively, the LBS could offer a basic condition report—something they could even include after a service. That report could then be shared with potential buyers to build trust and justify pricing. It helps reduce risk for buyers and could potentially increase the resale value for sellers. I know there’s a question of whether shops would support this if it competes with their own sales—but if there’s a fee involved, it could actually create an additional revenue stream for them while bringing more people into their stores.
  3. looks like that guy sold the bike and removed the listing...
  4. Your logic on not trusting resellers applies to all industries. You making it seem like it’s a bike reseller issue only It’s an integrity issue. That’s about it.

  6. https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/road-bikes/768552/cervelo-r3 Looks pretty and was recently serviced. Has Ultegra and 105 mix which is perfect. Its also a Cervelo... and you will have a R5000 balance I dont think disk brakes in this price bracket will be an upgrade. Rather get a better rim brake bike and one that is amazing condition. A cheaper well maintained bike would beat a poorly maintained expensive bike any day. Also with more expensive group sets you going to have more maintenance costs when things go wrong.
  7. did u get the bike back yet? i see the price dropped as well
  8. I avoid main road as much as I can and only join from under the bridge by the build it. But I then take the constantia road and do boyes drive and on main road by kalk bay. Only coming home I take main road all the way coz it’s quicker. sunset ride , just meant a late ride . I’ll try the Melkbos route 1 day. Campsbay to chappies also seems like a good 1. I guess the best way to know is to just explore
  9. wynberg/kenilworth normally do main road all the way to Simonstown and beyond...mornings are fine as the road not yet busy...but im wondering if its still feasible from 4:30pm onwards...I also dont mind parking somewhere and riding where its more quiet...
  10. My buddy is hooked on weekend rides and asked me if we must do a sunset ride...I am a bit hesitant as I feel sunset seems more dangerous (visibility, more traffic, criminality, drunk drivers) If I am wrong please advise...if there is some good options or routes let me know. this is for road biking.
  11. thanks guys...did more digging about the magnet and my pedal is magentic so I can use any magnet that can fit in that space....will be easier to just find 1 here...thanks for the offers
