  2. Yes, it did take long! Name and shame.....Coolheat was waiting for a proof of purchase, which I had lost. The wheels were bought from Westdene Cycles, who would not help me ito verifying the purchase with Coolheat (Coolheat just wanted proof that I had bought it, even just a phone call would have done it.). I have purchased many items at Westdene and the guys remembered me buying the rims, but were not forthcoming. However, my LBS, Sweat and Gears, eventually took the rims and took up the issue on my behalf with Coolheat. Thumbs up to Sweat and Gears! And thumbs up to Coolheat for being trusting regarding the purchase date of the rims. I did have spare rims, so this is why I was not too stressed with the delay. Not that waiting for the rims was any fun!
  3. Hi guy's, just some feedback. Coolheat have honoured the warranty and my rim has been replaced at no charge. I collected the new rim about 2 weeks ago. Yes, long process, but thumbs up to Coolheat for replacing without any problems.
  4. Would anyone know why a BB "cup" would shear off. My drive side BB "cup" has sheared straight off. I haven't hit it against a rock or anything, so I am stumped. Does anyone know what would cause this.....?
  5. svm, count me in
  6. Hi Johan, just some febback I thought you would be interested in. I'm still in the process of trying to sort out my rims. However the feedback from my LBS who has spoken to Coolheat is that this is not a once off problem and has or still is occuring. Apparently certain tubeless sealants are corroding the scandium, especially at vulnerable points such as the valve hole. Not sure what you make of this????
  7. Can anyone tell me what morning road groups there are in the Uhmlanga or thereabouts area. I'm down there for a week and really would like to ride in a group. Thanks.
  8. just another angle, as you can see there are no dents on the rim itself. I haven't ridden on the rim or used metal tyre levers. The only thing that possibly could have led to the crack is the "burr" on the side, but once again I wouldn't have expected it to lead to a crack unless the rim was originally flawed or compromised.
  9. Hi all, You are right, the spot below the valve hole seems to be an impact point. for the life of me, I can't recall when and how this happened. Looking at that impact point I would have expected, the tyre to burst, which hasn't occured. The other possibility I thought of is that the valve took a knock and somehow impacted internally, however the outer rim at the valve hole has no wear or abrasions, so that would rule that out (no counterpoint to the impact). I run these tyres at 3 bar, so I can't think the pressure is to high. I agree with Johan, that regardless I wouldn't expect to see this happen even if a direct knock had occured - especially for a R7000 scandium rim.
  10. Does anyone know what the warranty is on Shimano XTR rims. I found a hairline crack at the valve, so it's not holding air. The rims are just over a year old, so hoping the warranty is not 12 months. Anyone know???
  11. Just getting back from a layoff, but doing 18 to 20 hours a week. Distance is perfect, just did a 4 hour ride this morning - avg 25km/h, so no problems there. Battling a little with fitness but will get there in a couple of weeks
  12. Rynfield, would love to join in with you guy's
  13. Hi svm3000, i'm also looking for a fast training partner in the benoni area....where in benoni are you
