  1. You get tri-shorts which has a smaller chamois so it is more comfy on the run. It is a bit of a swimming jammer, a bit of cycling shorts and a bit of running tights in one.

2XU have good shorts - i have used these in the last two IM with the Specsaver vest. If you have a half decent TT saddle then the shorts should be fine. Do a couple of training rides in them
  2. [You can go under 13hrs - it's all in the run

My goal is to go under 12 this year - 1h20 swim, 5h45 ride and 4hr30 run 12min for T1+T2

What's everyone's personal goals for Sunday ?? (all factors going well on the day)

    Here's mine..

    Swim : 1h30

    T1 : 5min

    Bike : Sub 6hr

    T2 : 5min

    Run : 5h30

    Total ~13h10 (sub 13hr would be great  )

  3. "This is a 90km Bike Ride in East London, South Africa. The Bike Ride has a total ascent of 697 m and has a maximum elevation of 527m."

Can't answer the rest, but I will be careful to try and target same times as 94.7. There is a little warm-up swim before and warm down run afterwards to consider in 70.3

On the ride i registered 1125m of Ascent over 92km, very tough out ride before you turn. Many cyclist's never made the cut off time

  4. the doping laws and bodies that manage them are an absolute joke, this guy gets banned because some guy testifies that he may have doped dating back to 2005 ? Lance is still appearing at hearings.......is he still the TDF champion if he is found guilty? Contador ? and list list goes on and on

  5. in addtion to the cramp pills, eat some salted biltong, finely sliced. I eat the chews, biltong and mixed salted nuts along the cycle route.......this is more than enough. At the start of the run take a gel and another halfway. Stay hydrated.

  6. I have been using a pair of Asics Cumulus 12 for road running for the last year and want a new pair of shoes. Do I stick with a winning formula or is there something else you good folks can recommend ?

ALSO where can I get the best price for running shoes in and around Randburg ? Sportsmans want R1300 for Cumulus 13

Keep with the Cumulus 13 or if you want to try the Nimbus 13, i have run with both and they are great

  7. He was killed on the bridge crossing, the road narrows from NO shoulder when you cross over - you always just pray that there is no car from behing when crossing over - you are normally doing speeds of 65 - 70km/h. The cars have NO patience on this road!

  8. Thanx for the feedback, not really prepared to fork out another 3K, I've heard good things about the 500 so leaning more towards that one. Will see what Bridge Cycles offers for the 900

Nothing wrong with the 500, i bought the 900 for my wife, i liked the specs and fitted it with tubless tyres. she loves the bike and we yet to have a problem

  9. Tri suit is good, but i prefer seperate tri pants and a tri top - put them both on under your wetsuit. I don't know of any places in East London, you can give the 2XU rep/owner a call about a wetsuit and some tri kit. Louis and Marriete de Villiers - 082 5639555 or 082 5757350. They will also advise you which shops stock their products etc. Hope this helps you. :D

  10. Kandui, i'm also looking at getting a 29er. My height and weight is more or less the same as you. I test rode the S-Works 29er and Niner hard tails yesterday. The Niner Hard tail rides like my 26 Merida Dual Sus. I don't know if it's worthwhile getting a soft tail 29er ? I was more impressed with the Niner than the S-Works (Niner better price as well !)

  11. I had the same problem earlier this year and i know how it messes with your head ! I changed my headset and my mindset  My wobble always happened on the same decesent and the same place, same speed +-60km/h. The more i rode there the more tense i would get, you have to learn to relax, it's difficult to do but solves the problem.

  12. I see there were a couple of nasty falls shown on Supercycling last night when the riders went over some wooden bridges.

Those bridges were very slimy, you had to hit them square on....otherwise you saw what happened

  13. I used 32gi drink and chews at Iron Man in PE. No gels or gu's. I hate half a chicken breast after 120km on the bike and that was it. 3 Bottles 32gi juice mix,3 packets of 32gi chews, water and then some coke on the run. My energy levels never felt depleted.
