  1. Awesome shot, I may very well go that route too. Cant beat the price and really good reviews. I do enjoy setting up suspension and dialing it in so no worries with that.
  2. Epic have not read that will check it out, thanks
  3. Yea that it does haha if I go the upgrade route I will def do some measurements. Interesting to know.
  4. Yea that’s I think what will make the most difference to me. On flow trails the 32 with added token and more air pressure feels cool but on the rocky faster stuff it loses it. I think 160 would be overkill but if I can swap it to 150 for everyday and 160 when I do bigger days out that I think would be the smartest option. Really like the look and specs of the MRP Ribbon and would be able to put it on any 27.5 frame/bike in the future adjusting the travel from 140-160 and having a really great high end fork. Would also then be boost if new frame or bike had boost rear. Just makes more sense to try stick with current trends rather than have to upgrade to a boost fork and hubs if in a year or two I upgrade bike or frame. I need to test ride bikes like the hd4 and similar 160 bikes with “updated” geo to see how they climb in comparison to what a trance with a 150/160. Tyre choice has always made big differences to how the trance feels depending on terrain I just often wonder if I would enjoy a 160 bike with say ardent race/dhf for everyday and if it would be that much worse. Swapping to aggressor or something for other days. Test rides I suppose will tell. Also easy I suppose to get thrown off by guys test riding bikes online (YouTube) when you don’t really know how they ride, what the trails are like and so on. May be too much bike for my rides.
  5. Did think of that but i wouldn’t mind having the 150 for everything and the 160 for tougher stuff if I find i can manage it on shorter more downhill days. MRP and Pro 2 I can change just I suppose taking it apart won’t be changing as frequently
  6. Yea was thinking that based on the newer Trances coming with only 150 stock that thats probably the happy medium for them if focused on a bit of a "do it all" bike. The start of one of my older threads that led to this was "Is the Ibis HD4 too much bike" was thinking of in the next year upgrading and selling the trance off eventually building up a more XC orientated hardtail or something. Keep getting stuck trying to find a balance as I stay southern suburbs side and ride this side more often than Stellies, Durbanville... If I had a bike for the mellow trails I would have probably sold the trance for a 160mm stock ride. All the input helps as I have not come close to making a solid decision. Last paragraph was a good laugh cheers
  7. Ok yea I get you. Wont be much fun stuck at 160 for sure. Wish it had a slightly steeper STA but yea thats a different story. Cheers for the advice!
  8. Hectic didn't know that thanks. So if PhilipV has a 160 RS and found it a las for more chilled trails but enjoyed the 150 RS for (dropped) for flow trails and all day riding... If I got a FOX 36 160 my front end would be the same height as his at 150 obv with that extra travel? Or would the head tube angle still differ making the 160 feel slacker slightly. Perhaps just confusing myself haha I will most probably go with a fork I can change either way
  9. Ah epic thanks for the info! Did a mellow xc ride with the trance with a mate over the weekend from Tokai Kirstenbosch way and back and with a DHF/AGGRESSOR and not much riding lately it dragged a bit as is. Even though I'd ideally like to get a bike for xc stuff one day for the time being using the Trance. In which case your comment makes sense for sure,. Not going fox 36 or lyric then will decide between MRP Ribbon or Mattoc pro 2. I think both of them can be switched between 140-150-160 pretty easily. Want to be able to fly down with a bit more confident fork but don't want to drag it round all day just for that. Thanks again
  10. Awesome thanks guys will look at all of them and decide which ones!
  11. Ok cheers for the heads up will look at the above. Also if you know where to look for these wheels? Chain reaction, Jenson USA, usually look on them not sure round Cape Town
  12. Ok hectic have not heard that until now. Was looking at them on CW. Any other wheelsets for 27.5 Trance you can think of?
  13. Thanks drew, I checked out the Diamond too but have decided I cant ignore the Mattoc price. May see you guys for a suspension setup when it's all down and one day hopefully a fox x2 out back. Cheers
  14. Hey guys, thanks for the replies! Has helped me make a more informed decision for sure! Checking out prices and reviews for that Mattoc and it does look epic. Fact that I can start at 160 and if it's too much for daily rider trails round here I can always drop it myself. Also upgrading to a Flow MK3 wheelset so with the cash savings on the fork I can get a 1x11 upgrade, chainguide, maxxis wheel options to try out a workshop stand and lots of other things and still have cash left over. Thanks again!
  15. Hey Guys, So i started a thread on here a week ago and that led me to deciding to upgrade my current 2016 Trance 2 instead of getting another bike. Currently wanting to replace the stock fox 32 ctd 140mm fork with a 160mm. Cant seem to find one down here but the new Fox 36 Performance Elite 160mm 27.5 Grip 2 or I have seen and read reviews on the MRP Ribbon. Do any of you ride one of the above or have any input? I was going to go with a cheaper fork but instead of putting cash into a new bike I'm going to get a higher end fork and then in a few years I can upgrade to a newer frame if need be and move the new fork over. Thanks in advance
