Sorry guys - didn't mean to take the mickey out of you serious cyclists
circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's. You can
do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time
for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while
carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of beer.
No big secret on the program, I will post it here for all to see. The more the merrier I think
Yep - it was mailed do you want a copy?
Got mine!!
No couch, No sale! Guess he is yours for life. Congrats Desmond. Wishing you and the wife many years of special moments.
The Idol still holds that place in my mind as the Primo bike racer.
Bike always clean' date=' white bar tape before the rest of us had a clue.
Such style on the bike, you never saw him rocking side to side.
Pure winners attitude. Jokes and fun off the bike, win at all costs on the bike.
This hurts. [/quote']
So true CliveDs, am sitting at home thinking about all the laughs we had at the shop. No one could tell a story like Alan did, a story was never a story unless he did all the actions so you got the whole picture.
Alan lived life to the fullest.
Real sad
I had the privilege to work with Alan a couple of years back. I can clearly remember how clients would hang around the shop only wanting to speak to Alan or the Idol.
One particular incident I will never forget, it was a quite cape winters day we were all standing around the till point chatting and this lady walked in with her son in a wheel chair. Nothing to Alan, he walked straight up to the youngster and said, so young man what bike are we going to ride.
This little boys face lit up and pointed to a bike, Alan lifted him out the chair and off they went for a ride around the car park. That is only one of so many stories I will cherish. The club kids loved hanging around the shop after school listening to all Alan race days.
Condolences to the Family
RIP Bud

It happens quite often on credit card purchases. It normally gets reversed before you even know.
Thats the problem. I paid using a cheque card' date=' so this is cash directly out of my current account. Basically they stole the money from me
[/quote']
Who did you speak to at the cycle tour office?
@MM' date=' you were obviously in one of the photo's as can be seen from your attitude, and I am wiling to bet you belong to the lab!!!
Respect everyone and everyone will respect you. Respect is not:
1.The Club you belong too.
2.The amount of money have have spent on your bike.
3.The cycling license you have (more than likely you ride in VA or VB).
4. Your attitude sucks[/quote']
If I may ask, what's your gripes with
1. the Lab?
2. VA & VB groups?
3. How much money one spends on his/her bike?
Does the above issues affect you personally or your cycling in anyway? Other than being jealous of what ever it may be the above should not affect you or your cycling at all

Nice KitAnd a random selection of the rest

Nice KitAnd a random selection of the rest
Hmmm... so lemme see ...
Someone whose use of South African
roads as a cyclist in 4 (?) years probably totals less than 50 hours
(even that would be on closed roads or marshalled events in organised
events) feels the need to sort "misbehaving cyclists" out.
Perhaps
if he used the South African roads' date=' as even a motorist, on a daily
basis he would realise that the "misbehaving" cyclist issue is as much
about generally intolerant road use as it is about individuals who happen to be cycling when they are seen to be
"misbehaving". If it is genuine "misbehaviour" as opposed to some over-zealous perception then you can be sure that they behave the same way in a car.
Perhaps if our crusader used the roads in South Africa as a
cyclist on a regular basis he would be seen as an "affected person" and
therefore his efforts would carry some credibility.
Perhaps if our crusader even paid taxes in South Africa he would be in a position
to voice his opinion with more credibility. Taxes are used to improve
infrastructure such as public transport. Improved public transport in
South Africa would reduce road congestion which would directly impact
on the levels of tolerance of ALL road users.
Until then it is just hot air from a bored old man in Angola who is looking for attention.
... and before the attacks start ...
I do not ride abreast on narrow roads,
I do not hold up traffic unless it is unsafe for the vehicles to pass.
I try to generally be considerate of ALL other road users whether it be on the bicycle, motorcycle or in the car.
I
am not perfect and I don't always maintain a good attitude on the road
- particularly when I am faced with ignorant or aggressive attitudes
of road users who put my safety at risk.
I do jump certain stop streets when it is safe and if it does not
inconvenience others.
I have been photographed riding three abreast on a quiet road somewhere in the Karoo between Cape Town and Knysna.
I
have also been known to ride 3 abreast in quiet country roads in the
Netherlands - without motorists reverting to hooter rage by the way.
But I guess that would be considered as misbehaving by the Angolan
sheriff and his posse. Oh well ... I'll work on it with my shrink during group therapy.

Some of you might be MTB pro's' date=' others might be new to this wonderful sport. Thought i would share my lessons learnt.
- Sand is not your friend. The fact the one switched from road bike to MTB does not mean that sand suddenly becomes fun. It sucks.... literally....
- Although i might think ive got good bike handling skills, i dont. Went up a smallish incline in way to heavy a gear, couldnt turn it, then couldnt unclip in time and flipped over backwards. Somehow a bush got hold of me and gave me a nice friendly reminder on my back (a nice scrape) that im not the MTB god. Ironically, Bad Day from Fuel was playing on my Ipod.
- My LBS actually did fill my tires with slime. God bless them, otherwise i would still be walking home.
- Oh yes, slime is actually a good thing, it might be heavier (dont know how much) but i would rather lug that around than having to spend time changings tubes...
So what did you learn today?
