  1. As suggested in a previous post of mine, these are bikes I'm looking at currently: https://www.cyclelab.com/product/2022-scott-aspect-aluminium-hardtail-mountain-bike https://www.cyclelab.com/product/2022-scott-aspect-970-aluminium-hardtail-mountain-bike https://www.cyclelab.com/product/2021-silverback-stride-sport-hardtail-aluminium-mountain-bike https://www.cyclelab.com/product/2021-titan-rogue-se-hardtail-aluminium-mountain-bike https://www.cyclelab.com/product/2021-silverback-stride-md-hardtail-aluminium-mountain-bike https://www.cyclelab.com/product/2021-silverback-stride-delight-hardtail-aluminium-mountain-bike https://www.specialized.com/za/en/rockhopper-29/p/184115?color=291598-184115 https://www.decathlon.co.za/mountain-bikes/301097-15550-275quote-mountain-bike-st-540-blue.html#/demodelcolor-8500757/demodelsize-1045m_165_174cm?queryID=71f8e7cf20ebec28a90f7d5e16d30469&objectID=2379152 I want a bike to do the green trails at Red Barn, ride on the road between visits to bike parks. Looking for a general fitness bike, one bike that can do it "all" ???? Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated. If you have other bikes not mentioned above please let me know.
  2. Hi everybody, I have never done mountain biking before. Well did ride a MB while at school 27 years ago ???? My main reason for wanting to start the sport are two-fold, one for the obvious reason exercise and secondly to get out of the house. I will mostly visit Red Barn and enjoy their green trails, also road work to keep fit during the week. I do not want to go rob a bank to buy two bikes for us, but also know that buying cheap might and most probably will cost more in the long run. My budget is about R15k seeing the minister of financeloves me. ???? The big problem it seems is getting a medium frame that will survive all 130kg that is I. I am built like a juggernaut Looking at bikes it is clear I will only be able to get a hard tail. I have no problem buying 2nd hand, but you never know what you are buying so a new purchase will always be my 1st choice. Any advice and wise words would be greatly appreciated.
  3. What bikes would we need if we just want to do "normal" trails at let's say at Red Door Barn and other likewise places for fitness?
  4. Hi everybody, I have never done mountain biking before. My main reason for wanting to start the sport are twofold, one for the obvious reason exercise and secondly to get out of the house and enjoy an activity with the wife. I cannot see us getting overly competitive or doing crazy difficult or technical trails with the wife. I do not want to go rob a bank to buy two bikes for us, but also know that buying cheap might and most probably will cost more in the long run. My budget per bike is about R7k. The big problem it seems is getting frames for us as we both need a 17” to 18” frame as we both are only 1,7m tall. What complicates things for me is that I weigh 130kg. I am built like a juggernaut Looking at bikes it is clear we will only be able to get hard tails in this price range, and I am fine with that. I have no problem buying 2nd hand, but you never know what you are buying so a new purchase will always be my 1st choice. Any advice and wise words would be greatly appreciated.
