  1. Hi All. And still here I am, I have finally narrowed it down to the GT karakoram and a giant talon GT 2014 air shocks. Tubeless and hydraulic brakes. Still good condition Giant 2016. Air shocks, tubeless and hydraulic brakes. Still good condition and a cockpit fitted lockout system Both in my price range, but...which do I take ???? , please assist with a last vote of confidence in either before I loose my mind
  2. Again. Thank you all for the help. As I'm really not sure and I would like to get started riding instead of browsing. If I move quicker this time it's between the mentioned GT and the below two specialized. The white one below and the Grey and blue in the below comments section.
  3. Hi All. Still need help. Ok, so I lost out on the Silverback...was just to late!..very sad. So in my price range, please advise on the below GT. Apparently it's on the heavy side, also a bit old, but it seems in a great condition though.
  4. Hi everyone Thanks again!..the Silverback is the one Il go for!..all comments were noted and appreciated Regards
  5. Hi Jensie, Gerard and Rolf Thank you, those two as well, I have friend who rides Merida and they are very happy, I also saw the specialized, it does seem to be used and is the oldest of the bunch, but very good bikes, I have posted two bikes below as well, its really scary to buy used and spend the money to start off, so I do appreciate the advise, from the 4 discussed, what would you think will be the go to, please advise!, thank you
  6. Hi Guys, thank you all for the reply's, will definitely have a look, it does seem that the used options gets me more bike for buck, I did pick up though this one below that's new and the reviews seems good, Scott Aspect 970 https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/hardtail-mountain-bikes/501889/scott-aspect-970-s-m-l-xl2022 or Silverback Sola 4 29er
  7. Hi anyone and everyone Please advise, for a starter bike, what would be best, budget around 7k, do I buy new or used, looking at new Reflex2 or Silverback Stride Delight, but for this and cheaper there is used bikes like the GT avalanche and so on. Please advise, it's for XL 29er. Hardtail, as a starter bike I would be looking at cheaper options as well Thank you all
  8. Hi , duly noted and thank you for the great advice, I have a feeling that you might be right, I really feel the need to start ASAP and build from there. Will definitely ask advice as needed, made good progress today via the help from you guys and from reading up. Thanks
  9. Really appreciate the time and advise. Will go through the link and check. Thanks again
  10. Thank you for the advice. Had a old reflex back in 2001, took me to school and back everyday for 4 years and never a problem!. If I may ask further advice as there's a few options, what would be a good model to go for. I'm 1.88m tall. Big build. So I take it a 26 or 29er large frame would be best?.. my plan is to do mostly trail riding and would upgrade once I am fitter and maybe do some weekend races for fun.... Thank you again
  11. Hi All Please advise if a cannondale trail 7 will be a good beginner bike, also please suggest alternatives, my budget is 4k and it seems I can get good 2nd hand options on the above mentioned bike, Thanks in advance
