  1. Check if the BB is loose or has play on it. That is usually the problem. If not, then check the chainring bolts, they might be loose. Remove them and oil them when putting back. Seat post clamp and Seat clamp may also need tightening...
  2. Rather go from the brake lever to the calliper.... your problem... have you loosend the callipers oil input/output bolt. I think it uses a size 8 spanner.....

    Tubes

Super lite tubes are not a very good idea as one smell of a stone and a puncture happens. if you want to save weight and rolling resistance then buy Mitchelin Latex tubes, ( for Road and MTB ) available on CRC. yes they are expensive but are worth it. I have ridden them and will again.
  4. If you are running Campagnolo all you need to do is replace the Big chainring as the spider has been slightly shaved out to make it compatible. If Shimano, well not sure as I am a Campy fan..........
  5. The only problem you might have is on the down shift...... The gap between the chainrings ( on the spider of the cranks ), they are only a few mm wider, so the chain might not settle on the chainring properly. I might sit between the two rings, because the chain is thinner. There is a way to get around it. The machanic, if he is any good will have to adjust the front mech precisely....
  6. A 11-21 Casette is an awsome ratio because of the 18T sprocket. Its in the perfect place when rideing a steep drag or even up a mountain pass. I currently ride a 11-23 because i refuse to spend that amount of money on a Record casette. That gap between the 17T and 19T can iether be to big a gear or to small a gear.... I'm sure you know what i'm talking about if youre getting that ratio.
  7. The problem in this country is definatly NOT the Cycle Shops. As we all know most of the shops will bend over backwards to help a customer get the right equipment at a great the right price. The problem is with the IMPORTERS. They load thier profit margin on products, wich i have no problem with, but the margins are so high and a cycle shop now must compete and cut eachothers throats to make a sale. You go to a shop who gives you excellant service and expect huge discount but buy on CRC....... SUPPORT LOCAL AND GET THE IMPORTERS TO DROP PROFIT MARGINS!!!!
  8. Reading all this REALLY grates me!!!!!!! On the CSA website Mr Lemmer has said that the rider safety is of the utmost importance, why cant he just say WE MESSED UP AND DID NOT DO PROPPER RESEARCH of the route and the venue, and then taking a cheap shot saying that he will not stand for another cyclist's death due to a motorist. I did not ride this year..... Although I sent a mail to the CSA to please inform us on the dates and routes ect. this was on the 29th of November.... The routes were eventually posted on the 22nd of December. 40Days to go..... I am from Klerksdorp and although I did not partake in the organisation of the champs it was excellantly organised. The surrounding suberbs were informed personally and fliers were deliverd by hand to make sure all the residents knew what was happening. The routs and profiles with guest house information were on the sachamps website in November.........??? Now the CSA want to rearrange cycling in South Africa with new groups and seedings to bring cycling up to european standards...... I cannot complain about the event as I am not there but reading all the comments makes me wonder about the new improved CSA.....
  9. Hi all With the new rules coming in to action i find it really hard to believe that it is beneficial to cycling as a whole. Yes maybe there are to many bunches and maybe there are some riders in catagories who do not belong there. I feel that Joining Elite, U23, Vet and Juniors in one bunch is not a good thing. I have a full time job ( as do most people ) and race vets 30-35. how can i compete with Elite ( PRO ) riders who's job it is to sit on a bike...... I think they Elite and U23 group is to stay together, but, for European standards, the distances should be around 150km - 180km. These 100km sprints prove nothing in the SA Pro ranks. The racing, I think is great the way it is. What i would REALLY like to know is the thinking behind this. Sure if its to promote cycling in the country fine, but how???? Maybe an Amature group is to be formed. Vets racing groups is where the money is, Guys are spending big bucks on quallity equipment for that extra edge, now its all null and void racing Pro's..... I just dont see the logic.
