  1. Sammajoor...I bet this is the reason for your 11 500 posts. Online life is so much easier
  2. @TNT1, she cycles as well...so what more can you ask for:) @Le Turbo / T Guy - cool, will give them a shout
  3. Hubbers I am getting married in a month's time in Cape Town and looking for a real classic vintage bike to use as a "prop" for some of the wedding pics. My Trek will look cool, but would prefer an old-school classic. Cool
  4. Hi there Any fellow hubbers got a lift for me and my bicycle back to George on Sunday afternoon? If not for the bicycle, then just for me. Thanks a lot 0822946002
  5. I tried the spirits yesterday, but then I got high...i was gonna try the Mister Min too, but then I got high...now i am at work and I am high, yeah yeah...cause i got high, cause i got high (sorry Afroman, i had to do it) Great, thx for all the tips anyway! Will give it a go tonight. LOL "Argust"-chirps...i have given the roadbike a bit of a rest, enjoying my MTB a bit!
  6. okay...so its all in the title. What is the best way to remove the argus sticker glue still sitting on my carbon stem and handlebars?? If there has been a previous thread on this a link would be great, can't find it with search. cool
  7. Spike did my right ACL 8 years ago, and did a pretty good job but I didn't like his personality and "after sale service" / rehab very much. I had my left ACL done by Dr Taine Munting from Sports Science in Newlands 3 years ago. He is a cyclist too, nice guy and he did a great job. I did the Burger 2.5months after my ACL reconstruction. If I had a choice i will go for Munting
  8. well...loads of other factors Upgraded from a 8.4kg Alu Trek - 2010 Argus time 3h16, windy and group D, I weighed 78.5kg Madone to a 6.85KG Carbon Trek Madone - 2011 Argus time 2h53, windless and started in A. I weighted 73kg So the 23 minutes could be explained by 1) bike; 2) wind 3) group 4) my weight. So it actually looks pretty even. But, big difference is that i was overseas in 2011 and did not do any training. Only did one 90km ride and spinning 2 times a week. Whereas in 2010 I did 2 months of hard training. In my opinion, bike probably made a 5 - 8 minute difference on Argus, its definitely quicker to accelarate and slightly quicker up hills, so more difficult to get dropped - but its sort off same on downhills and flats (especially if you ride in groups). The new one is also more comfy and nicer on the eye!
  9. got Fizik Arione on roadbike and Fizik Gobi XM on mtb...love them
  10. i run the white rocket rons (tubeless conversion) on my scott genius...and up until yesterday had 6 months of puncture free riding. BUT as discussed at length in a previous thread....they do not have the greatest sidewalls. I did a jump on Jonkershoek downhill, ended up going off the gravel into a "braambos" and cut my sidewall. So yeah, its great for weight saving, money saving and looks. But i think i will get contis today or tom.
  11. Hijack Yah, that was quite crazy...especially the turn-off to noordhoek, and the loads of stop starts. The guy dropping his chain at start of Chappies made me (and the 200 okes behind) almost crash... BUT i don't think there was any crashes in A or in the extended A/VB/VA bunch? One guy in A went down in fish hoek at about 45km/h, was freaking funny, he was in the middle of the bunch towards the front..then just started leaning on the guy next to him for about 3-5seconds and then whiped out completely. Amazingly he took nobody down with him and ended up on his feet in the middle of the bunch shouting "Im okay"! haha
  12. results are up now! Just search for your name...or your age group within starting group (only first page of group comes up when you search entire group). 2H53 - Average of 37.97 KM/H. So freaking happy, but just missed the A group 2h49 bunch, they were 200m infront of me at 12 Apostles, but the 7 other guys with me didnt want to work! On another note - I`m a serial cramper. I know you shouldn't try anything new on race day, but popped a rennie every 30min, and used concentrated Hammer Perpetuam (caffeine one)...and no cramps for first time ever, and my legs 100% today!
