  1. Thanks will send message if i dont come right
  2. Does anyone know of anyone that can replace 2 spokes on an old lefty wheel in roodepoort I just need 2 spokes replaced the others are still good
  3. Your advice sounds good thank you sir Does one require added skill to do the damper ? They ask me 500 rand extra to change the damper. I'm thinking about trying to service it myself just not sure if there are hidden traps/difficulties servicing this specific shock ? As to the mount. The Jekyll has a threaded trunnion style mount. The body of the shock is threaded, and therefore, fitment challenged. One company i know of in the U.S custom make shocks with this fitment, not sure if we have someone in SA that could/would do this.
  4. A 2004 manitou swinger will fit ! Please.if anyone has one.please let me.know !
  5. Hi all I am looking for a 2004 maitou swinger rear shock. I can pay up to 1000 for one please KR CJ
  6. Thanks for sure i'm trying to get ideas/options thats why am posting here will send Kroff Cycles a message too thanks
  7. Well..perhaps you can tell ? Heres the link i made this is what it sounds like. Video deleted Does it sound right ? The shock works, it feels.nice soaking up the bumps. It has a light film of oil on the shaft after each ride ( i clean it before each ride) The problem i have is that it is an old shock And spending 2k on a service every so often is not worth the value given the bike's age. I want a shock that is cheap, cheap to maintain for thus bike, doesnt matter if i lose feel quality. Lockout seems to not work but i dont care about lockout.
  8. Measuring from the outside with a ruler seems to be 130mm eyelit to eyelit Can width 43mm. Do you perhaps have an idea ? Alternate shock ? Custom ?
  9. Thank you both Not sure if i could be so cruel as to add a rigid piece in there just like that BUT if my options are bone dry i will strongly consider it thanks. @armandt i will try a few shops i am not too optimistic but thanks thats all i can do i guess.
  10. I have an old bike from 2004 it is a Jekyll 800 with a fox float rl rear shock Is there any cheap shock i can replace it with i dont care if it would feel like a pogo stick. I like the frame i just need a shock to keep the wheel on the ground for road use. Something not expensive.
  11. This site has been a great help thanks guys just came back after giving the respectable owner and technician a busy time as we added remove linkages couple times the LBS got it sorted and your advice helped me to get to the right chain length, this is what it look like now on small/small setting. I'm happy now
  12. O also feel clearance of chain on pulley when on small/small should be little thanks guys going to work these comments in at the shop
  13. Ok tough one the bike mechanic has time to work on it in 20 min i have to take it in now he wants me to tell him if i want it lenghtened so i must make a call do it or leave it ?
  14. Ok bit confused now.. as 2 people now saying it seems correct. Let me ask this, will it hurt to add 2 more linkages or is it better the way it is right now ? Maybe the other bikes i have are tensioned wrong but i feel that when i put the chain on the smallest chainring and biggest sprocket the deraileur cage seems to be more "naturally" S shaped ie less tensioned it looks more right to me on the other bikes but am i wrong ?
  15. ... ok i hear what you say. The tests i was told to do is that you have to put it on the extremes and make sure there is some play still, no tight chain. Now i can say with the deraileur stretched out as it is in the picture there is actually still some play left. However it just looks to me like the deraileur is too stretched out even in this extreme position, does anyone agree. Like mentioned there is still some play
  16. Thanks guys ! I have two linkages from the old chain i could add i hope it would be enough
  17. Hi guys I recently had to get my chain resized but i am not sure what the original size was. I did watch a few youtubes but am still not certain if my chain is the right size. So im posting pictures for you guys to please help me with ? Does this look right or should i add a link or 2 ?
  18. Thank you sir, yes the bike is very old i paid 3200 for it and had to repair the wheel hubs, change the shifters and derailleur really busted my budget, will the squared bb be the ES70 cartridge ? Here is all the specs on the bike: https://www.bicyclebluebook.com/value-guide/product/38662/
  19. Ok i found out that it is shimano BB ES-70 cartridge. Are they hard to find and what would it cost ?
  20. Agree I would never over my own living soul leave a bike to rust like that. It was a second hand purchase, the idrive mechanism is solid with no creaking so once the bottom bracket is replaced should be as good as new.
  21. If anyone can assist in roodepoort / west rand / discovery or even might be able to get the bike to randburg ?
